That may have once been true, but I don't think it is anymore.

I just replaced my stock size Stingray wheels and tires replaced with Hankook non run flats and Z51 wheels and the difference is like night and day smoother ride and much quieter now !

They certainly are cheap, but middle of the pack in terms of performance. OEM ZPs are much more highly-rated, performance wise.

Drifting
A couple of things:
1: with TPMS your never surprised while driving... if you get a puncture you'll know and can watch the rate of pressure loss. That gives you time to either stop and fill it, plug it on the spot, or get somewhere where you can get it fixed. It just suddenly go flat ( in some rare cases you can get a blow out but very rare)
2: you got a CELL phone or ONSTAR to call for help if need be. Not available 20 years ago?
3: between small compressors and plug kits you're covered. These compressors were not readily available 20 years ago.
So your good with non-RF for 99+% of the time... for that 1% you are paying a premium. For those that feel comfortable if they have them, nothing wrong with that... it's just that there are options to consider.
