How soon after delivery should a wax be applied?

I waxed mine six months later. Normally I wax my car once a year.

As soon as you want no need to wait. You may want to go a bit further to ensure a good finish.
Place your hand in a sandwich bag and softly rub your hand over the car surface. If it feels rough and not completely smooth than I would do the following.
Wash with Dawn detergent
Clay bar
Rinse
Polish
Wax
Or you can have the car coated, there are several choices for ceramic coatings.
Have fun.

Agree with Larry, six months for me.. But since then I had cQuartz ceramic coating applied after they did the necessary paint correction because it's pretty normal that factory paint has uneven coverage and swirls that just waxing won't correct.

After the coating the daily maintenance is easier (e.g. washing, etc.) and don't have to wax for at least a couple of years and it looks way better than just wax!

My two cents!

If I'm not mistaken, the paint is baked on. So there's no need to wait.

And for some time the paints used on cars do not require 'more time to cure' at all.

Manufacturer bake the paint on, you can wax right away, they do when they're delivering a car at the Corvette Museum, correct?

The whole waiting for paint to cure is a myth. Probably the best thing you can do is wax it immediately. Not a bad idea to clay bar it either.

Don't know if this is normal, but 1st day home:
Wash with Blue Dawn, then rewash again. Claybar, and then wax or sealer of your preference. I did 2 coats of rejex w/ cure time in between.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Enjoy your vette.

I would suggest you detail the new C7 immediately upon delivery. There is no reason to wait if you're doing a DIY detail project.

Although the vehicle is new, there will be contaminants in/on the paint surface.

The C7 will need to be clay barred or use a NanoSkin prep glove or Eagle One Surface Prep Glove to make the paint surface ultra smooth and clear of any surface contaminants.

Once this is done, then you're clear to polish and apply a paint sealant or ceramic paint coating.

I highly recommend the nano ceramic paint coating products, there are many to choose from.

Here are a few products I recommend.

https://www.amazon.com/Eagle-One-850...ace+prep+glove

https://www.amazon.com/Nanoskin-AS-0...anoskin+sponge

http://www.autogeek.net/pinnacle-paint-coating.html

https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys...e+weave+towels

https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys...e+weave+towels

There are several processes on how to apply these products and ways of starting the detail process.

Keep in mind the most important aspect to any successful detail project is surface prep.

BTW: I detailed my C7 when the car was delivered with 5 miles on it. The paint surface was contaminated and easily repaired using the Eagle One glove and Nanoskin sponge.

I am sure you will receive lots of input here from other C7 owners.

Hope this info helps.

It's commonly sourced from body work that cannot bake paint on. Outgassing can occur on paint when it's not baked on which is why it's recommended to wait on body work.

I have my car 1.5 yrs and I have never waxed it as I rarely if ever let my car sit in the sun and I avoid rain. My finish is like new. I am not advocating not waxing a car but in my circumstance I see no need for it at this time.

Can you tell me the difference between letting your car "sit" in the sun and DRIVING it in the SUN.....

I always complete a 3 stage process on my 2 Vettes (2005 Z51 Blade Silver / 2015 Z06 Shark Gray). I first use the Meguiar's Clay Bar, then Meguiars Ultimate Polish, the Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax. We have approx. 40 members in our corvette club and NO-ONE's Vette comes close to being comparable to mine. It comes out smooth, seamless, deep looking, and glossy. I think the polish really gives it that depth and everyone can tell. Just my 2 cents

Your paint finish may look like new, but is it really?

I would think your paint surface is loaded with contaminants.

Do the simple sandwich baggie test. Take a sandwich baggie (not freezer bag) insert your hand and softly and smoothly rub your hand over the surface.

If your fingers feel the surface has a sandpaper like feel, you need to detail your C7.

You may not feel the imperfections with your bare hand/fingers only, but the using the thin plastic bag will provide a great indication of surface contaminants.

Also waxing is old, there are many new tech products like paint sealers and paint coatings that are far superior to any wax product.

Let us know what you felt.
