Corvette storage
Now this year----because we always look for ways to spend money on these cars-----I bought a piece of 4' x 8' 1/2 inch Styrofoam insulation at Lowe's and cut it in 4 equal pieces------then I put one piece under each tire. I don't know why I did this-----probably from reading too many posts about getting the tires off the concrete----I caved.
I have always filled the gas tank, with no Stabil or anything added---did so again this year. Then 2 days ago my son-in-law tells me he stores his older Cadillac with next to no gas. He said he has always done this, as has everyone in his family------he said nobody ever had a problem?????? His uncles always said either fill the tank or leave it empty........most in his family leave it as empty as possible.
I only put about 2,500 to 4,000 miles on the car each season. I let the car sit for the 3-4 winter months with the existing oil in it------then I have the oil changed in late March or early April for the new season. I think I read somewhere that about 60% of the owners change their oil before storing it away for the winter, and 40% change it to start the new season................I bet there are some that probably do it both times.
I also put those Bounce dryer sheets under the hood (3-4); one on each tire; one at the base of each tire; I cover the exhaust pipes with some of that garden cloth that helps prevent weeds from growing (use twine to tie it around the exhaust pipe openings---and I put a Bounce sheet on top); hook up the battery tender; drape the car with the 4 huge bed comforters I have been using for 15 years.............and then curse GM and Michelen all winter for not providing us with all season run flats (even all season non-run flats) for these great cars.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
because it almost guarantees you'll fill it with fresh gas in the Springtime!
Also don't store things that mice can use for bedding in your garage and don't keep dry pet food in open containers(use a metal can with a metal lid).
