Question: are C7 corvettes more susceptible to mice getting into the heater than previous generations ?
and, if so, can anything be done about it ( other than eliminating the mice ) ?
I picked up a new 2016 Z06 in September and after less than two months mice got into it and destroyed the heater blower....
which I had to get fixed on my dime.
It was considered to be 'not a warranty issue'....
which is understandable in general, but perhaps not if somehow failure to defeat mouse intrusion is legally a 'design flaw' ( ? ).
Luckily no dead mice in the car and nothing else was destroyed...
the car seems ok after the fix...
The car was parked in an old unheated shed that obviously has mice.
I have now exterminated a dozen with old fashioned traps and perhaps some more with poison....
but, remain concerned that it will happen again.....
I have parked corvettes in that same shed for over 20 years. (C4 coupe 7 years, c5 FRC 7 years, c6 Z06 9 years)....
and, never had mice in the heater (yes, the odd nest under the hood , but not in the heater).
And , then with the c7, heater destroyed in two months ?
This gets me wondering,
are C7 corvettes more susceptible to mice than other cars or previous gen corvettes ?
is it really reasonable that mice can get into a brand new car's heater and destroy it ?
And, is it reasonable that the fix is 'not a warranty item' ?
Has anyone else had this problem with any C7s ?
Do the C7s (or, C7 Z06 in particular ?) have any know 'special' mice problems ?
If so, is there any know 'fix' ( other than eliminating the mice ) ?

It could be. Usually they destroy wire insulation, and anything that's edible. From what I've read, there's more and more use of chemicals and "stuff" that is more "green" which I guess meets with the taste buds of critters.
You should take IMMEDIATE action to eradicate the mice problem. Mice multiple rapidly.
I own a Jaguar XKR and am a member of the Jaguar Forum (Internet Brands). One of our Jaguar Forum members had the same problem as you are experiencing.
When said and done, the mice eat the wiring in the Jaguar XKR causing $20,000 in damage uncovered by any warranties (as expected). Most of the engine wiring was eaten, and the engine had to be pulled, the car was in the dealer service department for over 2 months for repair.
Mice have no mercy on automobile wiring. Hire a professional quickly, or the end result in trying to save a few bucks by not hiring a professional eradication may result in thousands of dollars in repairs.
+1 Bring in a professional. I had a mouse problem at my last house in an old detached garage. I called an exterminator, repaired the structure where the mice came in, and managed the odd one sneaking in with traps. It worked pretty good.
Get yourself a "Bubble" they can be pricey but so can the effects of a bunch of mice. Keeps inflated by a small fan , keeps dust and all else off your car !!!
Mouse traps placed around the area where the car is stored baited with peanut butter (they love the stuff) and containers containing moth ***** (catching the moths is the hardest part) placed under the hood. Unless you want to smell like Grandma's house on Thanksgiving don't use moth ***** inside the car.
I live out in the country and just had a new metal 2 1/2 garage put up. I had them spray expansion foam around where the building meets the foundation. I also put sticky traps on either side of the garage doors close to the rails since there are some gaps there. I have sticky traps and poison bait boxes in the attached garage put out by my exterminator. I had a small issue with mice in that garage that has been taken care of but none in the new garage as far as I can tell. There have been other threads here on the forum regarding mice issues and prevention you may want to search for. Best of luck.
