I know its been awhile since my last post "Fellow Vette Owners & Members....Please Help Me!!!!". Just wanted to cover a few things up.
1) Thank everyone for the support in following my thread/story. I received a lot of advice & support during this crazy experience of wrecking the vette. I do want to thank everyone for keeping the thread going. Even after it was shut down due to some negativity and off topic rants, I still received PM's about people wanting to continue to help and know the status of my repairs.....
2) The Vette has been in a shop in Lumberton, NC for about a month now. I'm happy to say that the repairs will be finished by mid December. I'm very happy with the shop working on my car and they have made me feel very comfortable with the entire process since taking over the repairs. I plan on taking the car straight to the dealership I purchased it from and trading the car in and ordering a new 2017 Zo6.
3) I finally was able to obtain a lawyer to take my cast. He charged me an upfront fee to take my case and is currently working on it. He seems very confident in providing me with a good outcome with in the next few weeks which will help me in replacing my Z51 with a new Zo6.
Again...BIG THANKS to everyone on this site for the help & support that I needed during this headache of an ordeal. I plan on posting more info in the weeks to come including the dealerships who neglected and caused further damage to my car during the repair process. While the lawyer is still working his magic tho, I will refrain from posting names of the dealerships/body shops/personal until everything is finished. However if anyone is in the Charleston, SC area and looking to buy/service a Vette please PM me and i'll warn you of the names and dealerships/body shops I'm speaking about. Can't wait to have all of this behind me and move forward with the Corvette owning experience. Until further notice
Thanks for the update. I've been wondering how this unfortunate nightmare was working out. Our daughter hit a (black) mini fridge that was not secured and had fallen off a trailer last Friday night. She hit is dead center in a newer Grand Cherokee at about 65 miles an hour and caused $2,400 in damage. It's our first experience in dealing with a claim, and it has been an eye opening disappointment.
Best wishes for a good outcome. Interesting that the shop is in Lumberton. They suffered massive flooding in the recent storm.
Yea, the Vette was delivered there a few days before the storm hit. Thats why its taking so long at it's current location. They shop lost power for a few days. The shop luckly had no flooding issues. Just my luck right
Nice, glad it came to an acceptable ending. I have showed your story to many and minds were blown on sheer magnitude of incompetence involved.
Let us know the details of the legal outcome once it's settled.
Knock on wood, but by the end of the year i hope it's all behind me. I'm sure there are still people on the site that still don't believe the story, hell...even i do sometimes. Like i said i'll keep everyone updated and as soon as the case is closed i'll provide detailed info about the dealerships/body shops that were involved with trying to screw me over.
I would drive the repaired car over the winter to see how the car will perform after all the abuse. Putting on some miles might actually increase the car's value.
Wow, Thank you for the update. I really felt for you, it was a series of bad luck the likes of which is rarely seen. The worst being none of it was your fault, and these folks were literally the worst and also apathetic dealerships/shops I had ever heard of.......
I could not be happier that you seem to have it worked out to your satisfaction. I hope this turn of luck continues.
I'm glad you realized you needed to hire and pay an attorney. Trying to find one to take a case like yours on contingency wasn't going to work. That's what a lot of folks were trying to explain to you about the time things got ugly on your original thread.
I DO think your new "policy" of not naming names (of dealers, insurance, body, towing, etc.) is a very wise thing---at this time. Going public would make your attorney probably see red.
I am also glad that this story seems to be heading in the right direction for you. Thanks for the update. Keep us posted as to how it all turns out.
Lance, who found the shop in N.C.? Did Geico ever step up and do the right thing?
Jim,
The body shop where the car was towed once the water damage took place. (3rd bodyshop). The car sat there for about a month. I couldn't find anyone to take the car due to everything that had happened to it, Geico stopped trying to help me. A man was actually walking through the bodyshop and saw the car and asked about it. He told the owner of the shop that he would fix the car and called me and we worked it out. His shop is in Lumberton NC. He works on high end cars like Mercedes and BMW's. He has worked on a few older Vette's but not my body style. Geico is a piece of ****. They would of just let the car sit there.

Best of luck, and I hope it all works out.
It was never an issue of me not wanting to pay a lawyer to take my case. Everyone i met with said i had a case but they were very reluctant to help. They said things like, "Well we can take the case but it's gonna cost you $400 an hour and we don't know how long this will take" or "we really are not sure about who to go after". Just things like that, not really installing confidence in me or my situation. I don't have a problem paying you, but i at least want you to make me feel comfortable that we will have a positive outcome and i'm just not throwing money away on a issue i'm already loosing money one in the first place. The lawyer i have now never made me feel that way at all. He laid out a clear cut plan of attack. He asked for an upfront amount and said he wouldn't take anything on the backend once i receive my settlement. He also showed me case history of issues of property settlements he has delt with in the past with great results.
