Bought 1.5" thick 2'x2' Styrofoam panels at Lowe's... based on advice received on the forum.
When my baby woke up last spring, you could see the indents (about 1/4"deep), but the tires nearly stayed at the 32 psi that was also recommended on the site.
Pump mine up to 40 lbs and put a couple layers of cardboard beneath them. Been doing that for years, on many cars including two Corvettes, with zero issues.
Lots of things are a waste of money, BTW. In fact one could be said owning a Corvette is a waste of money.
While I'm normally a fan of things that are more "do-it-yourself" than not; putting the wheels on carpet, pumping them up, etc are not the same. Flat stoppers allow you to be lazy, they just work.
Also the cost is negligible. $150 or whatever. OK, so if I keep them 15 years that $10 a year. If I keep them 30 years it's $5 a year. That's a nothing cost. They don't degrade or deteriorate.
If anything is going to flat-spot, it's going to be this at 42,000 lbs on 8 tires. Even though it sometimes sits for extended periods, I've never had an issue with flat-spotting in the 4 years I've owned it, and never on a car. At one point, I had about 5 classic cars sitting for extended periods.
Who did you buy them from and which size did you get? 16" ?
Thanks for the help in advance.
I bought mine on Amazon and they are 14" wide. I have a Stingray, with the Z51 option -you can see them under my Corvette tires.
A lot of people said not to bother because they have had cars in winter storage for years and never had a problem -me either on my old radial tires. I just figured these tires are a little more fussy and expensive -never had a tire I had to worry about freezing either LOL.
