Default Booked Spring Mountain, any advice?

Hey guys, I just booked spring mountain (corvette 2-day class) for late Jan. My father is retiring from Boeing on Dec. 31st so I decided as a gift to him I would purchase the 2-day class for him, my brother and myself, plus I have the Z06 discount! He has been a great Dad and always taught me to work hard and he's the reason I'm so into muscle/sports cars. He has had a '67 GTO since '74 but never done any serious (legal) racing like this so I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun. My brother has a '14 ZL1 so I know he'll really enjoy this as well. None of us have done any real track days or anything, so I ask is there any recommendations or advice you guys would have? Things to bring? Thanks

Get a 32Gig SD card. Make sure first that it works in your car. You'll want those track videos.

Think about hitting up Vegas.

Think about trying out Death Valley.

Get something to wipe the smile off your faces because it will naturally be there for a while.

Don't party in Vegas before the school. Save that for after. Have a great time. It is a blast.

I have a SD ready to go. Going to go to Vegas for a couple days after we go to spring mountain.

I don't know. I purchased some puma motorsport shoes not too long ago but haven't really had a chance to drive the car much lately if they seem helpful or not.

It's a great experience! I wish I had brought my laptop to view my PDR files after the first day. Looking at them at home I see where I could really have made improvements in throttle and shift points.

Be prepared to buy a little at the shop. They have a super deal on a carbon-fiber look frame for your graduation certificate. They also have a pro photography taking photos while you drive--not cheap, but how often do you have the chance . . . .

Yes, if you're ever going to use them again. Otherwise any thin-soled running shoe is fine.

I was there Mon/Tue of this week. Was my first time on a track as well.

I had an absolute blast...most fun i've had with my clothes on. lol

As for suggestions...

Bring a 32GB SD card to record.
Wear comfortable clothing.
If you are at all heat sensitive, i'd suggest this time of year.
Get rest. I found the concentration to be fun but tiring.

great to hear, we are very excited. We're going at the end of January, but I'm not real heat sensitive, but my dad can be so it should be perfect.

Honestly you don't need any advice. I went last month and they take care of everything. Pay attention in class and have fun.

do not forget to put your sd card in when the instructors drive and take you for some hot laps... just turn down the volume when you show it to your friends

I have owned a pair of Piloti's for quite some time. I do wear them exclusively when driving on long trips. They are comfortable and I love the speed laces. My wife and daughters make fun of me when I wear them. I tell them its a guy thing and they would not understand. However, as Woodson stated, a thin soled running shoe will work just fine. Piloti's are not cheap. I got a deal on mine through Griot's Garage.

Enjoy Spring Mountain. Looking forward to hearing about your experience.

I just finished the class on Tuesday. As othere stated above, make sure you stay rested, it is an adrenaline rush from 8-4. You will be tired at the end of the day. Bring a 32gb SD card for your track recordings, they are awesome. Be prepared to meet some really great people. The instructors are great, and all the students are Corvette enthusiasts. I had many great conversations and met some awesome people. Bring some extra money for the pro shop and for pictures. Above all, enjoy it. I smiled from ear to ear for 2 days.
