Hey forum, please welcome the new addition a 78 Trans Am. (some are pics from delivery this past Sunday and some from dealership listing)
Funny side note:
My wife asks ..."where are you going to park the Trans Am?"
I say...."in the garage of course."
She says....."so your going to park the OLD 78 Corvette and OLD 78 Trans Am inside along with the C7 and leave the $90,000 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe outside in the driveway with the X5?
I say......"yup"
She rolls her eyes and says ...."buy a parking lift so you can park the 6 series inside too"
Winner winner chicken dinner!
Makes me miss my '71 TA with a 455 HO motor when I was in college. Didn't realize what I had then but couldn't afford the gas at 90 cents a gallon.
Love that Trans Am.
A recent quote at a Mecum Auction related to the Trans Am was How could Pontiac turn out something that beautiful then several years later completely screw up the brand?
Oh man, memories. This brings me back to college days, driving from Clifton NJ to Manasquan in my friends Metropolitan. It looked cool but struggled to do 60MPH uphill. We didn't care, just spending a day at the beach trying to meet beach bunnies was all we were into.

So cool! I owned two all black '76 T/A's (They had a front end more like the Camaro and no hood chicken) back in the 90's and they were fast cars.
The 400's were torque monsters, great fun when you were a young man to be able to smoke your tires at will! I remember I only paid $700 (Canadian!) for each of them back then.
Doesn't look like your garage doors will clear and open if a car(s) is on a lift(s) in there. I know my garage doors would not.
They already came out and measured. The lift will fit no problem but he recommended raising the garage door tracks about 1 foot to give myself some wiggle room.
Well see.....they are coming out this afternoon to install the lift.
Quite an iconic car, but a lot of people probably don't realize that by 1978, primitive emissions controls had choked that 6.6L (400ci) engine down to 220 HP and a 0-60 time of over 7 seconds.

yes, basically what you get in older cars is a nostalgic look(and very good look), by any standard they're obsolete. A new 6 cylinder Mustang or Camaro is quicker than most "muscle" cars of the '70's or many from the '60's. My daughter has a 280HP Hyundai sedan that'll actually get on it pretty good.
I had that same car but I had a Pontiac 400, 4 spd, T top Trans Am, also a 78. I currently have a 79 Trans Am, a 1974 455d Trans Am, a Hemi Shaker Challenger and my C7 corvette along with the Jeep Wrangler 4 door, Dodge Diesel 2500 and a Mazda Miata, a 33 ft Denali travel trailer, a 27 foot Nordic Thor 525 cat boat, the Polariz Rzr and trailer. I need to weed some of this stuff outta here. Luckily the garage is bigger than the house!.
