Default C7 GMPP Extended Warranty

10 years ago Dennis Fichtner at Fichtner Chevrolet in Laurel, MT was the "go to guy" for GMPP extended warranties. Just tried to send an email to get a quote for my C7, and found that he has apparently sold the business.
So who has the best pricing on GMPP extended warranties these days?
Would appreciate the benefit of your experience, good or bad.
Thanks, Bill

GMEPP Do a search to see that this has replaced GMPP and is one now supported by GM. GMPP, supported by Ally is no longer GM supported.

I asked the finance guy at the dealer I just bought my Vette from what they sold and he said it was the Ally plan - if I buy the GMEPP plan will it be accepted at any GM dealer or just the ones that sell it?

Yes if you buy GMEPP your car will show up in the GM system at any GM dealer.

With the money GM has I don't know why they just don't run the extended warranty program themselves, and handle claims just the way they do under their 3/36, 5/60, etc. plans.

When I bought my C5 many moons ago I naively thought that a GM extended warranty would cost the same at any GM dealership.
Something my local dealer said when I asked him for a quote caused me to shop around, and surprise surprise I found the local guy was jacking up the price by about 35%. I found Fichtner Chevrolet through this forum.
If you understand that dealers are like casinos- the numbers always favor the house, hen you won't be disappointed (or deceived).
Fortunately I've found a really good guy that knows the Corvette order book inside out to buy the Vettes from. Probably time to talk with him about the warranties, right?

Please do and post here. I am not a big fan of extended warranties but I bought one once, on a new 1994 Viper and it paid for itself after the first claim, for a fuel pump. But I am tempted this time since a GMEPP 84/56000 plan with a $100 deductible is only $1835 for my new 2017 Stingray; however, I am still wondering if it will be worth the money. If I sell the car privately it may bring some extra coin but not if I trade it in a few years from now.

Hello!

As they say, change is inevitable and constant!

In August of 2014, I sold our dealership.

I remained at the dealership in an attempt to continue to serve our customers in the same courteous, friendly and professional way that my family had since 1952.

Unfortunately the new owners chose a different business model.

As a result I joined the team of the largest Chevrolet dealer in Montana and one of the largest in the Northwest in May of 2015. I am the new car/truck manager for Denny Menholt Chevrolet in Billings, MT.

Dennis worked for me in my dealership (Fichtner Chevrolet) as my finance manager. He has now joined the team at Denny Menholt Chevrolet selling new Chevrolets and taking care of the GM Protection Plan sales.

December to Remember Protection Plan Sale Starts Now!

Now thru December 31, 2016.

I am offering the plan at our discounted price LESS an additional $250 DISCOUNT!

Sale ends on 12/31/16.

Prices from GM on the Chevrolet-Buick-GMC and Cadillac Protection Plan will be increasing by year end so don’t wait to buy the plan!

We are offering the lowest prices ever on the Chevrolet-Buick-GMC and Cadillac Protection Plan.

We are offering the Protection Plans from GM on any make & model.
AND, the plan prices are just over dealer cost, AND we are taking an additional $250 off!

To qualify for a Protection Plan from GM:
• You can reside in any state! The plan is available in every state.
• Your vehicle must be a 2006 or newer model with less than 120,000 miles on the odometer.
I was the first to offer plans at a discounts and without sales tax.

Again, no sales tax and also no additional fee for accepting a credit card!

NOW THRU December 31, 2016, in addition to our deeply discounted prices for the NEW Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, & Cadillac Protection Plans, I am discounting the plan an additional $250!

Here’s a YouTube video on the Chevrolet-Buick-GMC and Cadillac Protection Plan:
The only Protection business that is ENDORSED by GM is the Chevrolet-Buick-GMC and Cadillac Protection Plan, which offers the only protection products that can give you the benefits of GM divisional branding and the highest level of GM system integration. Chevrolet-Buick-GMC and Cadillac Protection provides unparalleled brand recognition and delivers valuable benefits that no third party competitor can match, including:

A dedicated GM support field team of highly experienced professionals;
Ongoing, GM-customized development;
And GM system integration.

Chevrolet-Buick-GMC and Cadillac Protection Plans are part of General Motors.

I am still in business and now Dennis Fichtner has joined our team! I’m confident that you know the names of Ken and Dennis Fichtner for their expertise in the CorvetteForum for many years.

We promise great service and the lowest prices.

Matching and beating other offers is our goal!

If you call the old phone number that Dennis and I used for years you will be told that we are no longer around. NOT TRUE!

Have a great day!

Ken, thanks for the update. Glad everything worked out.
I also heard from Dennis, and have emailed the car information to him for a warranty quote.
The level of complexity in the C7 vs the C6 is amazing.
I kept the C6 12 days short of 10 years, and Lord willing plan to keep the C7 at least that long. Never had a problem requiring dealer repair on the C6. Hope the C7 is as good.
Best wishes and Happy Holidays! Bill

Dennis will take care of you. I bought an extended warranty from him years ago and the transaction was smooth and the price was excellent.

Did he quote you a price on the warranty, and if so how much was it?

It all depends upon how much coverage you want to purchase. Do you want 3, 5, or 7 years, 50, 75, or 100k miles? Do you want $0 or $100 deductible, etc?

Having purchased 2 extended warranties from the Fichtner's I've never found a better price regardless of the amount of coverage you select.

If you read the terms. The plan is also cancellable with a pro rata return of the payment depending on the time and mileage less a $50 admin fee.

Yeah, I read that. But for the first 3 years, during the factory warranty, it will not be used, right? And after that it has the 5/60k powertrain (2017) so even then I guess the factory warranty applies first?

True but that is priced in too. If you wait let say until near expiration the price will be higher also. It is insurance despite what GM says and priced that way. I have emailed Dennis for a quote on my new 2016 C7.

I traded my 2014 C7 last week -- I had Ally GMPP and paid $975 from a Florida dealer. The refund after 2.5 years was $795 after cancelling it. Note it really had not been used since the warranty was still in effect.

There are some side benefits -- like rental coverage during the warranty period.

If you wait until the factory 3/36 warranty is about to expire you can get a longer period of coverage. The new plan is similar to the old GMPP plan which I purchased on my 08Z in 2011. Since I had less than 24K miles on the car when it came time to buy the plan I had the option of ordering the 84 month (7 years) 56K more miles plan. I sold the car last year and at the time it had 2 years left on the plan. That helped sell the car since it had a 2 yr bumper to bumper no deductible warranty as far as the purchaser was concerned. If something went wrong all he had to do was go to a shop, throw the keys at them and say fix it. That makes life a hell of a lot simpler.

Bill
