Default Stripe installation....

Simple questions....I'm considering ordering an Admiral Blue GS with the heritage package with either the optional full length racing stripe, or the Grand Sport center stripe option. Are the stripes installed at the factory or are they dealer installed? When I research dealer inventories I don't see any with stripes. And are the fender hash stripes dealer installed? Thanks in advance for the advice. Happy Holidays too!

Full stripes are installed at the factory. Hash marks most likely also, not sure.

All stripes are installed at the Factory ... thats why most dealerships will contract out stripe repairs and replacements because they have no experience doing them.

I bought my car of the lot and ordered the full stripe kit on line. I took it to a good sign guy to apply them.

Our new GS was factory ordered with the GS full stripes and Hash Marks in Carbon Flash.

The Hash marks were incorrectly put on at the factory in GRAY, not Carbon Flash. The dealership got another set under warranty, but as stated above, they had an outside guy come in to install them.

Slightly off your query but possibly useful: Do a web search for "Corvette stripes" and you'll find them much cheaper than the factory option.

A Sign Or vinyl wrap place is best to do the install.

That's actually what I plan to do if I pull the trigger on a GS, especially since I may want to do a more subtle full length stripe and possibly not do the hash marks on the fenders. Thanks for the advice.

Happy Holidays!

After getting rear ended, it took three tries to get my stripes right. 3/16ths of here, there, and everywhere. Ripped then buffed & tooled (50+ tool marks). Defective stripes, looked like they were trimmed with a cold butter knife.

Body (slop) shop gave up and told me to take it somewhere else. They were willing to pay for the new job just to get it off their plate.

Took it to the next shop, blah, blah, blah.

Went back to the second shop and told them my Xpel was being removed and if I needed the full stripes redone, what would the charge be. They said they'd give me the guy's number but didn't want to touch stripes again.

Bought a kit from GM Dealer ( at 15% club discount) and had installed by same person who does it for the dealer.
Only difference is factory installed stripes have emblems put on after stripes and kit has cut outs around emblems, i.e. emblems are not removed to put stripes on.

Pretty sure the factory stripes are no different than what you get OEM when you order from GM .. The stripes are just get in a way so the emblems overlap they edges so you can't tell they are cutout ... The Corvette letters on the back do go on the stripe decal .. but the C7 wings don't ...

When you had install done .. did you have him remove emblems and purchase new ones ?? Or he just placed decal around your emblems?

The GM stripe kit that I bought online is cut to outline the emblems so you don't remove anything.

I checked with the owner of the sign shop and he told me to buy the factory kit and not anything aftermarket.

It's almost two years ago and it still looks great. And yes the tiny bubbles disappeared when the sun baked them out.

No emblems removed.
As you can see in the pic the stripes are cut out around all the emblems including Corvette letters.
