She had a great time both times. All the folks at SM are extremely accommodating and made her feel just as welcome as me. It also didn't hurt that there are casinos (we went to the Nugget which is the only one in Pahrump that has gaming tables) which she also enjoyed!
For those that might be interested, I asked them about their memberships which allow for guaranteed track time each month...as 1 and done doesn't do much for me. Memberships START at $45K a year and go up from there...well into 6 figures. That's just nuts. They cater to the mega rich, a club I don't belong to. Other than the special deal they worked out with Chevy for this 2 day class, pricing for everything else is laughable.
You are right that membership is for folks with much deeper pockets than mine. One of the SM folks told me the initiation fee is $40,000 and up and then there is a yearly fee of $10,000 and up. As for the Level 1 and level 2 driving classes, SM's pricing, while higher than what we paid with the special offer, is comparable to other driving schools for similar classes. I talked to a couple of attendees who had taken courses from other schools and they said that SM is a much better operation than any of the other schools they had attended. Of course, YMMV.
OP - did you do the Owners School in the Z51 or Z06? I'm looking to go in the spring and would like to utilize the Z06 since that is what I have sitting my garage. Approximately how much track time did you get? I've done a few HPDEs but I'd love to learn how to better maximize the use of the Z.

If you bought a new Z06 you can drive a Z06 for the two day course. I don't know if you can ask for a Z51 or Stingray but I'd bet SM would be happy to give you a slower car if you asked for it.
It's very true for the GS but also true for all the C7s. Probablyy 95% of C7 owners will never come close to driving their car at anything close to its capabilities. Even at SM most of the students are driving at about 50% of the car's capability.
I agree... which is why I bought my 2017 without the Z51 or MRC. Cant imagine driving at 50% on the street or a country road. Think about some idiot on a cell phone driving into your lane going around a blind corner... Its a beautiful car with tremendous capability, excellent interior, decent stereo (2LT) and offers a nice size trunk. I always liked the hatchback style...kinda reminds me of my 1972 Pinto.
