I have noticed when it's cool outside (temp in the 60's), I turn off the air conditioner and just use the ventilation system (outside air). However, the air that comes through the vents is warm, really warm.
Is there a secret to getting cool fresh air into the cockpit??? Besides taking off the top and lowering the windows.
Thanks and Semper Fi
UPDATE!
Sooooo, this morning I took the advice and pressed AUTO. As expected, the AUTO button triggered the A/C. TEMP was set to LO and the blower motor went to high. I THEN hit the A/C button (yes, A/C and AUTO light went out) but the blower continued to blow at high speed. Air flowed through the vent, but cool air flowed, not warm - whooooo hooooo!
Here's what I think may have happened. Once the A/C button was turned off, and the air continued to blow, I heard what sounded like actuators and a door close. The cool air began immediately thereafter. It must have triggered something.
Thank you all for your suggestions, thoughts and advice...this is a great forum.

Reason: Found the answer
What temperature do you set the system at? Is the system maintaining that temp or is the cabin temp higher than that? The heater core always has coolant flowing through it and the system mixes the air through the heater core with air coming through the evaporator to get the desired temp in the cabin. If you turn off the AC the outside air still flows through the evaporator but isn't cooled. If the doors aren't working correctly more warm air may be mixed in with cool air and make the outlet air too warm or maybe the air coming through the evaporator is getting warmed by the engine before it goes through the evaporator.
I do know this. There is a lot of heat up front that will come into the cabin if you don't use the climate system in "Auto". Some of the engine heat, I believe will come in through the vents.
It is actually better for your climate system to use the A/C all year round. You won't wear it out by having it on all year. I got that information a few years ago from car magazine, and if my memory serves me correctly it was confirmed by the auto manufacturing companies.

I set the temp at LO....and the air is still very warm...other cars I've own will allow pretty much the same outside air temp to flow through the vents...my C7 is warm...very warm.
The AC works perfectly and yes, I use it to cool the air down a tad.

I'll try AUTO, however, won't that automatically turn on the A/C? My A/C works fine, however, other cars I've owned will allow pretty much the same outside air temp into the cockpit.
I don't try to get untreated outside air without AC/Heat selected into the car, I just use the auto system and adjust the temperature accordingly. Even with the top down I still have AC selected blowing cold air.

I noticed this especially when traveling in a multilevel parking structures when the nose of the car is either pointed up or down. A wash of hot air will sometimes come through the vents when just using outside air (non-recirculate, no AC).

Just because the freaking AC light is on, doesn't mean the compressor is engaged. Just press the Auto button. (the light means that AC is AVAILABLE, not that the electro mechanical clutch is engaged.)
