Default Knocking noise from engine or suspension

Taking my car in for a noise from the front right of the car, may be in the engine area or the suspension. The sound reminds me of the sound from bad ball joints, kind of like bottles knocking together. I only hear it when the car is going slow and most notably when not under power, say rolling into a parking lot that's a little bumpy. I can also replicate the sound with the clutch doing a poor release so I'm more inclined to think it's in the drivetrain or motor mount. Cars a 2015 Z51 mag ride M7.

Just throwing this out there incase anyone else has encountered something like this. I really wonder how in the world they can figure out where this comes from as the car must be moving.

20k so far and really my first repair, hoping for smooth sailing.

Hope it's nothing serious my friend. Keep us updated, and good luck.

Car dives perfect and it's been going on for a while, was just to lazy to bring it in as it wasn't overly noticeable, but it has become more noticeable lately which is good as there is no way they can say they can't hear it.

It's strange that it only happens at low speed. I'm wondering if it happens all of the time but as you drive faster the vibration is faster and you don't hear it.

It's a good possibility it's happening, I always have the exhaust in track mode and we all know these are not the quietest car so it could be all the time, just hear it with less tire, exhaust and music.

BTW she's from Kerbeck, she's an awesome car!

Day one and the saga begins. Car brought in first thing this morning, I tell the service adviser I'd like someone to ride along with me in the parking lot so I can show them what the noise is. They tell me it's to busy nobody is available, they will take it out later and hear it. End of day comes, I call, they state they would like me to come in in the morning so I can go out with an service manager so I can demonstrate the noise. Really hard to keep your head from blowing off when things like this go on. I know hunting down this noise is going to be a long and painful process for all, I'll be surprised if it ever even happens.

Did they ever figure out the cause? I have a 2017 C7 with 6000 mi and have a similar noise that has recently started.

This is an old thread from last winter, but is there any chance you're making sharp turns on cold pavement when you hear this noise? If so, it's probably the normal chatter from the OEM PSS ZP tires and a little phenomenon called the Ackerman affect.

No I know what you are talking about. Has nothing to do with the tires. It is only at low revs, moving slow, coming to a stop, or idling.

Without getting into a reason, I was uncomfortable posting about this saga while I owned the car. It has been moved along sooooo.

I thought it sounded like it was from the front right of car but reality was right rear of car. GM diagnosed it as needing a new torque tube, so after ripping my car apart and replacing the tube, it still made the knocking noise. Many weeks later after they rip apart daily they finally discovered a bad sway bar end link on the passenger side. That did fix the issue but as I knew the car was really never quite right after all those surgeries. I traded her in recently on a Z06, actually surprised at myself for getting another Vette as this was not a great experience but it's really hard to replicate the enjoyment per $$ that the vette offers. The Z06 is magnificent.

Good luck on finding your noise.
