Default C7 windshield replacement

I have to replace the cracked windshield in my C7 coupe.

My car was damaged on the underside about a month after I got it, by a metal plate in the road that a contractor hadn't fastened down. Pretty much a missile. That didn't damage the windshield; the body shop that did the work did because the chip-out is on the inside of the windshield, top-right, way underneath the headliner.

My insurer will be paying for this. They have referred it to a auto glass company named Lynx. It is a C6 coupe, 2LZ, so with HUD.

I've never needed to replace a windshield on my previous Vettes. And I hate having it on the operating table yet again, but there's no choice - the crack now runs 2/3 length along the right edge.

Does anyone know Lynx? Is there anything specific or any gotchas I need to tell them about this, or that I need to be aware of before I do this?

Thanks

Wait, is it a c6 or c7? It probably doesn't matter really. I would want an oem windshield myself. I've never heard of Lynx either, but I haven't needed a windshield either. Maybe ask in the Northern California section?

Make ABSOLUTELY SURE it's the correct windshield. My understanding is that HUDs require a special coating for optimal viewing.

Thanks for the tips.

This is a new C7, previous cars were C6s. Sorry not to be clear.

I'm a little concerned because there's all that GPS, OnStar and God-knows-what stuff wired and adhesived up there. I just don't want it falling down someday.

My cardinal rule with Corvettes is everything OEM. And I do mean everything....

A few years ago one of the front parking lights on my C6 went out. And if you've never tried, replacing one is a wretched, knuckle-crushing job calling for the arms of double-jointed orangutan.

So, with my wife growing exceedingly tired of my new vocabulary, I finally took it to a repair shop, figuring anyone could do it. And they did. But two days later it went out again.

This time I took off the wheel and dove in there. They had replaced the bulb, and with the correct one, I think. But not the OEM part. The entire bulb base had melted.

Make sure it's OEM certified.

I really doubt anyone ever heard of this local glass company unless they live in your city. Why don't you go to yelp.com and look up the reviews for them. Do some research on Yelp and find the best rated glass companies. Make phone calls to them to see if they have experience replacing a C7 front windshield. Also make sure the insurance company told them to use OEM glass. There is one aftermarket company that makes front HUD windshields for the C7. Just had my windshield replaced 3 weeks ago on my Z06 so I've been through all of this.

I had windshields replaced on my C6, CTS-V, and the C7 - all done fine - and, yes, with HUD.... don't know Lynx but replacing a windshield isn't rocket science.

I recently had my windshield replaced on my 14 C7. There are a lot of wires that connect to the windshield behind the rear view mirror. Other than that it appeared to be a standard job but you might ask them if they have ever replaced a C7 windshield. Safelight WAS going to replace mine but I called them to see if they ever replaced a c7 windshield. They had never done one before so I called the chevy dealer to see who they use. They gave me a company name of someone here in town and they did the job.

If it is not an OEM windshield for a heads-up display, the heads-up display will not be clear.
