What did you do to your C7 today?

I drove my car to work all three days so far this week, which probably isn't a big deal for those of you in the south, but for this part of the world it's almost unheard of! Not only that, but it hit 62 degrees here today (normal is 32) and I took the roof out for the very first time! Unfortunately Mother Nature is drunk, she's dumping 8 inches of snow on us tomorrow

Just ordered in Carbon Flash a new front splitter, wheel moldings, and am waiting for my alternator cover with the C7 logo. Takes a long time from you to get your parts when ordering these custom parts.

I did my first oil change on my 2018 today, at 1111 miles. OLM was at 80%. I put in M1 5w30 and a PF64 filter. I will run this oil until around the end of summer or early fall, and by then I should be able to get the new 0w40 for that change. I was surprised at how easy it was to remove the drain plug and the oil filter. On every other new GM car I've owned, those things were both a real bear to remove because they were on there so super tight (and I've always done an early oil change at 1000 miles or sooner) I did the oil change in my driveway, which has a slight incline so I am pretty sure I didn't get as much oil out as I could have, because I only got out just over 6 quarts. I normally do it on the street which is more level but it's still pretty dirty from the road salt/sand.
I found it tricky to read the dipstick! I added 5.7 quarts of oil at first, drove it for a bit and then shut it down and checked it after 10 minutes or so (not a dry sump so I didn't need to be precise on that time) and really couldn't see a definitive reading as to where the level was. I then added another half quart and checked it again and this time it looks like it's completely full (perhaps even over the top mark) Maybe it'll be easier to read once the oil is a little more dirty. On another note, I'm definitely going to need a different funnel for filling the oil in the future. With the weird angle that my short funnel sits in the fill hole it made it very difficult to pour oil into the engine out of the big jug (I had to pour extremely slow) I'll see if I can find some sort of funnel with a long neck that can be angled.

oil change
I picked several funnels. Short and long neck I believe at Harbor Freight or Walmart Hardware stores would probably have also.
Right Seems they could make a dipstick that presents the oil level
with less effort. I have an 09 and it is hard to read.
Not sure how critical oil level is in current engines. A tad short of full may be better than over. Someone else may address the situation.

I am not sure about overfilling the LT1 but I do know the LS1 had no problem with extra oil, as I ran an extra quart of oil in mine the entire time I had it with no issues (I bought it with 31k on it and sold it with 133k on it) I do believe that most engines out there can tolerate being overfilled by a little bit, the 1.8L in my Honda Civic can tolerate an extra half quart over spec no problem too.
