2016 Production Info
Chevrolet has released the final counts for the 2016 Model Year Corvettes.
A total of 40,689 Corvettes were produced. This is up by 6,449 cars or almost 19%. The highest selling
model was the Stingray Coupe, garnering 52.6%, followed by the Z06 Coupe with 28.4%. Stingray Convertibles
accounted for 12.4% and Z06 Convertibles trailed with 6.7%.
The 2LT package was again the most popular for the Coupe, but for the Z06 it was the 3LZ package (go
big, or go home perhaps?), which more than doubled the number of 2LZ optioned cars.
If your car has one of the special design packages – your car is pretty rare. Only 371 have the Twilight
Blue Design Package, 535 have the Spice Red Design Package, and 454 have the Jet Black Suede Design
Package. For the special C7.R Edition there were 570 Coupe Z06s and 80 Convertible Z06s. This edition
was originally limited to only 500 cars so 500 went to the US, and the other 150 went to other
markets.
We often get asked why so many of our raffle Corvettes have automatic transmissions. One look at the
numbers will tell you why. 31,440 of the Corvettes made for MY 2016 have the 8-speed paddle shift
automatic transmission. This includes the Z06, which for the MY 2015 offered the automatic transmission
for the first time.
New for 2016 were two tone seats (only 1,474 of the cars took advantage of this option). Also new was
the offering of red stitching (1,413 cars) and yellow stitching (1,331 cars) for cars with Jet Black interior.
How did the colors pan out? Most popular was Arctic White with 21% followed by Black (17%), Torch
Red (15%), Shark Gray (12%), Laguna Blue (9%), Long Beach Red (8%), Corvette Racing Yellow (7%),
Blade Silver (6%), Daytona Sunrise Orange (2%), Night Race Blue (2%) and even though it was not
available until very late in the model year, Admiral Blue still snagged 1% (or 336 cars).
The Museum had the privilege of delivering 675 of the Corvettes. If you are planning to order a new
Corvette for 2017 you should consider participating in our Delivery Programs.

Since that includes both retail sales of 2016's and 2017's, I suspect that a lot of those December sales were left over 2016's(at seriously reduced prices from MSRP).
