My car is new, so I am waiting before I treat it. But most conversations come down to waiting until it can't bead water. The main products I have seen listed are 303 and RaggTopp. Nanolex is a newer product that some seem to like.

Having spent most of my childhood and ALL of my adult life on the water I know a thing or two about waterproofing canvas. On my 02, 08 and now my 16 Verts I used the West Marine Canvas Waterproofing. You clean your top with a good detergent and leave it in the sun to dry COMPLETELY. You cover the windows and parts of the car that might get some overspray....you squirt the waterproofing on the top and BRUSH it into the fabric. First in one direction then the other. Let it dry overnight and your top will be TOTALLY waterproofed for at least a year...depending on how much sun and rain you get.

There are others on here that use a product called Ragg Top also with good results.

The Top is waterproof already. That said, I did apply RaggTop, albeit I did not have too.

3yrs conv. and I use the 303 cleaner and guard once a year..

Water beads up nicely perhaps better than the Zaino'd body..

Why do you need to waterproof your top? Its not like the top leaks water into the interior like a non waterproof shoe would onto your foot.

The top is made by Haartz Manufacturing who makes tops for almost everybody. You can go to their web site & they give you details on how to care for their top. They recommend the Ragg Top product for their tops. They recommend yearly treatment or if top stops beading water, sooner treatment is recommended.

A life long boater as well. The good marine products work great.

Do not do anything to your top other than wash it now and then. No chemical applications should be applied!

IF you do anything at all, the above is correct for RaggTop AND what OBX wrote. But extra caution to what he wrote: 1. make absolutely sure your top is dry---esp. the seams---otherwise, when you apply the sealer, it could begin to grow mold underneath, and 2. do cover windows, panels, etc. because it is not easy to remove overspray (it may take longer to do the covering than the actual spraying---consider it part of prepping which takes longer in many projects).
