Thinking about a 2017 GS convertible and it appears there is not an OEM power wind deflector. Is there ANY wind deflector sold with the car?
My current 911 convertible has a push-button wind deflector that I love. Not only does it help reduce wind noise, but with the deflector and windows up it also keeps the interior warmer, allowing for later season comfortable driving. Was hoping the Vette would offer something similar.
If they don't, can anyone point me to an aftermarket wind deflector you'd recommend? Thoughts on how long it takes to initially install? And once it's in, how quickly does it go up? (Yes, insert Viagra jokes here.) Can I reach back while driving and just lift it into place?...or do I need to pull over and go through a multi-step process to enjoy the deflector? Thanks.
I am going to say you will not need a wind deflector. My C5 needed one but the C7 design is so different that it does not have the buffeting wind the C5 had. Drive the car first, if you need a deflector plenty aftermarket suppliers out there. Have not seen the complaints on the C7 Vert that needed a deflector. My C7 is perfect without a deflector.
I had one for my Audi cabriolet and it made a big difference, but the C7 without a deflector has less turbulence than the Audi with the deflector. Good airflow and you sit pretty low. You can be going 70 and have a normal conversation with your passenger. (Assuming you are both normal, of course)
I had one in my C6 loved it as said there is less need in the C7 but there is still some buffeting. The other advantage of the wind blocker/ restriction is less ac or heat loss. King penn makes a great wind blocker.
My wife says it should be illegal to drive a convertible with the top down and the windows up. I agree with her.
Send your wife up to northern Minnesota in October and take a cruise with the windows down. I'll bet some motorcyclists say if bike riders need windshields and heated seats, they should buy a convertible! ;-)
I will admit that when the windows and deflector are up it feels like more of a Targa vehicle. But it really does extend the driving season and definitely makes for a more comfortable cabin. There are times I drive to work with the windows/deflector up and it's 40 degrees out, then drive home with everything down and it's 60 and sunny.
Can't answer the question as far as the Porsche/Audi is concerned, but I can on the C6 vs C7 wind issue is concerned.
The wind turbulence in the C7 Vert is so much less than the C6 Vert is concerned, I don't need to tie my hair back. The air noise is much less pronounced, as well. I can actually listen to the radio.
