I am finally getting ready to ordering my Z06 after years of searching, reading and some unexpected delays.
I am planning on doing a custom build 2017 racing yellow Z06, 2lt, manual, black racing stripes, yellow calipers, black rims, museum delivery.
It seems like the best 2 forum dealers to go through are either Tommy Jr or Mike Furman.
So finally to my question. Is there any special time to wait to place the order being its a custom build, holidays, ect or does it not matter?
Thanks for all your help in the past!
I'm getting ready to place an order too (first time, no experience)
From what I read here the plant had an extra week shutdown at Christmas and is going to a 4 day work week in February
If things are slow we ought to get a quick turn around
I'm in the same situation. I have my 2017 Grand Sport optioned out at about $85K and see that the factory incentives last month and a current dealer quote this month equates to a $9-10K discount. Unfortunately, I will be out of the country until the middle of May and no way of picking up the car until then. I am told the build time is 6-8 weeks, so that means I have to place an order in Mid or late March. The dealer will not place the order now as they do not want to sit on the car for 2 months nor will they hold the price.
So as the OP asked, what are the trends in pricing during the year? Will it get more expensive in March as we get closer to summer, or will it be the same or perhaps higher incentives will be offered? I was surprised with the below invoice pricing last month, so early in the 2017 launch, and was thinking it was due to the specter of the C8 coming out with the twin cam LT5 next year which would be definitely a game changer. But anyone have a clue? Thanks Allan
if i recall correctly, there is to be a bit of a hiatus in Z06 production, the 2017's will get cooling upgrades, which most will be happy to hear.
Seeing as you look like you want a custom order, you won't get as good a deal as a car that is sitting in inventory so be prepared to pay a bit more.
I would say the best time to order is right at the end of January when most dealers are trying to hit their monthly sales targets. You are then at the mercy of the whole allocation/build process but you will at least get exactly what you want.
I would suggest checking forum dealer inventory because if something is close to what you want, you will probably get a better deal.

I have and I did. Unfortunately the have to have options for me seems to be not what is normally ordered for inventory. Basically a 7 speed GS LT3 coupe with the Spice red interior which covers all of the dash, Competition seats, exposed carbon fiber hood, etc. The dealer which is a vendor on this site offered a $9.5K discount if I ordered now. Strange thing is that all of his GS cars are LT2 offering about $8K in discounts and the closest match was a LT3 Wakins Glenn Gray GS, which is my color, but with the Tension Blue interior, no comp seats, and they are only giving $3K discount. Go figure. So do you think I will have a shot in March? Or will I be waiting until the C8 comes out lol.
^^^ GM has cut back Production to 4 days a week, so this month is probably best, Start in the next week to have a couple of dealers quote you and then come back with a low ball counter offer and wait until the end of the month, if nobody comes back with a good counter, wait until next month... By March, the hint of spring in the air will firm up prices. And keep checking inventory, a few cars may come in or are about to come in...
No rush on your part... your not gonna be driving it until April.

I will be ordering a GS in spring it will be my first new corvette. I'm waiting til after Bash hoping there will be new info on 2018 colors. I will be ordering cause one of my must have is the Spice Red interior but would take on off lot if I could find right color combo and options.Regarding best time of year I always found at end of December was best. Second was around Presidents day which in my area is also the same time as local dealer car show with comes with a $ 500.00 discount during the week of show.
I appreciate everyone's response and its good to see some other members are in the same boat. I wish I wasn't so set on the museum delivery but that being said that means I have to do the custom build.
I have seen a few cars exactly how I wanted it besides the racing stripes which I could easily add after but still back to wanting to do the museum delivery. I actually blame this on a lot of you forum members because reading all the amazing posts on the museum delivery is going to cost me more money now, thanks a lot, lol. I guess you only live once so enjoy life and if you want something bad enough and you can afford it then go for it.
This will be my first corvette and I want to make sure I do everything right and have no regrets but at the same time get the best deal that I can get with a custom build. I was following another thread about what is the best forum dealer to get the best price and it seemed like it was MacMulkin chevy. I will reach out to Kerbeck, MacMulkin and Criswell. So it seems so far that I might get the best deal by the end of January unless anyone else has other opinions. I am in no rush with constraints because I am going to driver her home after the museum delivery and of I don't want to do that in the winter. Looking more towards a May to June pick up time frame.

Exactly in the same boat with having to go with a custom build. Curious what forum dealers have you spoken with and got the best price? I know I can do better on the lot but going with a museum delivery I have to go with a custom build

I definitely appreciate your advice and I will do some research on them. I wish I could go with on the ground but I want to do the museum delivery so if I am not mistaken I have to go with a custom build and not on the lot. Sucks but I blame all the corvette forum members with all the amazing posts and feedback from the VIP museum treatment. Thank you

Kerbeck was the best current price, but it was on par with my local dealer, Open Road, last month when they had several incentives including the factory 6K discount. Once you add in the other incentives it was about the same. But like I said, the discount I received was higher than anything listed in their inventory. Not sure if you can negotiate from there, but none of their other cars in stock was discounted as much.
