Default Any one tried this

Anyone tried switching the running lights over to the signal lights? Can you just unplug them from the bulbs and change them over? Has anyone tried this before? If you have, how hard is it to do this. I think it would look lot better. I know some here have changed them on their pickups. Please advise. syswayne

I am sure it could be accomplished fairly easily. Not sure how Pennsylvania safety inspection laws would like it. Inspector could reject mod and make you change it back to stock.

Thanks, here in Texas when they inspect they only look at the tail lights. Easy here to get it inspected.

I haven't done that, but sounds interesting. If you end up doing it, post the results. Thanks.

Ok, I'll chime in and give you the feedback based on information I have researched. I was looking at rewiring the side markers so that they would flash with the turn signals.

Based on what I have seen from the electrical diagrams in the Helms service manuals, which are sketchy I admit, the C7 appears to have some internal circuitry inside the headlight. The BCM actually controls the flashers and turn signals. I think that to get at the headlight socket, one would have to remove the front bumper and remove the headlight. Not a big deal if you are changing out the grille but a LOT of work if all you want to do is get a VOM on the leads to see what is going on in the wiring in that connector.

It would not surprise me if the GM LAN Bus just sends a signal to the headlights assembly and tells them to flash. But I am not 100% sure and have been looking for any specifics on this wiring and have not found anyone that has hooked up a VOM to see.

Flame Red, best said ! With what all is controlled by the BCM, I'd be very leery of trying to make a change. BCM's aren't cheap if the o/p fries his.
