Default A friend let me drive his ZO6 last night....thoughts compared to my Stingray

The car is definitely cool looking with the wider body, air dams and the crazy big back tires. The inside was just like mine except for a badass feeling steering wheel. (I wonder if i could put a z06 steering wheel on my stingray if yes how much?

The z06 was ALOT rougher than my stingray in the sport mode. I mean rough. The car was also more twitchy than my stingray as far as steering. But when I stomped down the throaty exhaust and the acceleration was wonderful. It definitely pulls harder than my motor and louder. I would like to have one except for price, twitchy steering and the rubber and brakes costing more.

But I would love to get that steering wheel. It felt great. Oh and the blower too.

Z06 style "D bottom" Steering wheel is pretty cheap. You can also go 1 step higher and get a Caravaggio Steering Wheel (~$2k USD). It costs about $100 to have a dealership swap them for you.

Yes you can on the steering wheel give vettecandy a vendor in here a call. Best price for sure.

Driving the two cars is like diff's from night and day.

All stock wheels are interchangeable. Just be aware that the paddles on a auto trans wheel have a "-" on the left and "+" on the right, while wheels for manual trans have paddles that both say "rev match". Despite the paddle differences, the wheels are exactly the same electrically.

Check with Gene at CULTRAG auto parts for wheel sourcing. He can go over every stock option out there and hook you up with the one you want. The stock sueded micro-fiber wheels do feel great, and save you about $1500 (give or take) off a custom one from Carravagio or DSV.

I made that mistake of driving my friends Z06. Now I am going to have to buy one. It will be this late winter or early spring. Moving to AZ. Will purchase before we move to save the sales tax. Once I drove it I had to have one. My wife likes the current one and we will keep it. Going for the manual this time. I can't stand the wait! Insurance is another factor remember. Mine will be pretty inexpensive even for a Z06 in Lake Havasu City. About the same as what I am paying in Portland for a Stingray. Good luck trying to get that car out of your head.

Good review, but I've never considered the steering to be "twitchy," unless you are referring to the chatter you get in tight turns while going slow due to the wider front tires (285s), AKA, the "Ackerman-effect." Then yes, I would consider it more "twitchy."

your probably right the wider tires probably cause that.

Mine is $960 in Portland. Where I move to it will actually be a little less expensive even though it is a Z06. In Portland it would had increased to $1680.
And on the transmission. I have had no issues at all on my current A8. In fact it is the best Automatic I have had. I drive the **** out of it too. I mean a wide open throttle a day keeps the mechanic away is my motto.

I drove a Z06 for a short period way before getting my Stingray. Everything is a bit more raw. The sound, the ride, the power. My Stingray is the perfect mix of power and comfort.

Whats your time frame for Havasu? As far as insurance my Z06 is insured with the Corvette Museum.
