2014 is a great car that scores very well with Consumer Reports and is more reliable than the 2015-2016 model years that is according to Consumer Reports. Their have been two simple recalls that I have had done on my 2014 A6 Z51 3lLT.Good luck and buy it without any remorse!

My impression is when new, autos sell better but used a manual is easier to sell. Go figure.

I've had a few minor issues on my '14 2LT M7 Mag ride Z51 coupe that were covered under warranty. One was a leaking radiator which was due to a slight separation of the end cap and the other was a separation of the middle of the rear fascia from the CHMSL which was easily fixed by the technician. I also had three TSB's fulfilled. One was the creaking top issue - both my clear and CF tops were updated according to the TSB and it resolved the issue. The second was the brake shimmy which was addressed with the brake rotor/pad replacement as directed by the TSB. The third was the fuel tank filler replacement TSB which was completed by the dealership quickly.

I also had the seat belt recall performed during one of my TSB visits.

I consider all issues to date minor and rate the overall quality and reliability of the vehicle as very good. I would definitely buy another '14 based on my experience to date, although, having a great dealer service department has enhanced my experience.

With today's deep discounts, you can probably get a new 2016 in stock or 2017 for a small incremental amount.

2014 Should be fine as for transmission I prefer a manual but that is up to you.

Spend a little bit of time on the forum and read about the 8 speed automatics 2015-present. They are giving a lot of people a lot of heartache. So that being said if your going to get an auto get the 2014 with the 6 speed auto. As for me I own a 2014 m7 and love it. 11k problem free miles so far!

OP said "standard" transmission. In Canadian, that means manual.

OP, I also have a 2014 M7 ("standard"). The only problem was a squeaky roof, which has since been resolved. You should not have any reservations about buying a 2014.

I love my 2014 Z1, auto with 2LT. 20,000 miles of pure joy. I'd give it a 10 out of 10. Good luck!

There is no reason to avoid any year C7. However, it is important for you, the prospective buyer to do your homework. In addition to the usual Carfax, be sure to ask the dealer, if its a GM dealer, to run the Service Record for that VIN. Have a service manager go over it with you to see how the Corvette you've focused on has performed. Keep in mind, the 2014 model year had its share of lemon law buy backs and problematic Corvettes. But you can avoid buying a problem car just by reviewing that report even if you have to pay for it if the dealer you're buying from is not a GM dealer or if it's a private sale. Also, pay the extra money and buy an Autocheck report along with Carfax. Make sure they agree. Of the last three cars we've purchased used, only one had a Carfax and Autocheck that agreed.
As for would I buy a used 2014 Corvette? The pic in my avatar is a 2014, Cyber Gray, 2LT, Z51, M7 with mag ride, purchased used one year ago. It was problem free before I bought it and been problem free since. No reason to avoid a 2014.

I'd like to tag onto road's comments above and say, yes, do both Autocheck and CarFax because they sometimes cover slightly different items. Plus, when you go to any GM dealer svce. dept. for that history (no other source has it, to my knowledge), it is called VIS or IVH, and it is free via the vin of the car you're looking at.

The only problem is that it is not in your garage yet

(Of course, do all the pre-checks that everyone else suggested to make sure that that specific car has no problems)

2014's are fine; there are only slight differences from the more recent 2 model years. All the recalls were likely taken care of by the previous owner. About the only thing you won't be getting is an upgraded infotainment system (i.e., Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability) that you get in the 2016/2017 models. If that is important, you can always upgrade the 2014 for $900-$1400 dollars which is what I did.

My 14 was pretty flawless, had 1 recall for the airbag issue, quick fix. My battery died after 2 years and was replaced free under warranty. The nice thing about the 14's was that they came with a much longer factory warranty than they do now and although you were looking at a manual transmission, the A6 automatics were pretty much bullet proof!

My mid-run (2/19/14) 2014 Z51 2LT M7 has been great. Recalls for fuel filler tube and seat belt tensioner reflash, but no issues. Happy owner here!

Getting ready to sell my 2014 to get a new GS. Hope the GS is as reliable as the 2014! It has been back to the dealer only twice (I do my own maintenance.)

Once when I got it in October 2013 and GM asked to have the differential fluid level checked. I watched as the newly trained C7 Tech checked-it was fine.

The other time was a month ago for the GM requested seat belt software update. Other than that it has been perfect!

Want to buy a Z51, 3LT, M7 with lots of small mods like Carbon Fiber Side Skirts, Splitter, Hood Vent and real CF Cover for chrome grill bar that all match the OEM visible CF Roof? "Low Mileage by Old Owner."

Very happy with my '14 vert.
No A8 issues and has been basically trouble free for 11,000 (s)miles.

Got my z51 3lt in October 2013...love it!!!
No problems except airbag recall and infotainment screen flickering ( a known problem), both fixed under warranty....
Didn't much care for the stock shifter and replaced it with an MGW short shifter, but other than that, it's great! She is definitely a keeper, no matter what else I buy
