Default Going, going, gone...

All the wrong things came magically together here...

Surprisingly, only a damaged C7 Carbon splitter & driver's side skirt.

Correct me if I'm wrong but all nannies appear to be off. Correct?

Any thoughts on why it spun so easy?

Turning while cresting the hill. As you can see by the skid marks, many others have made the same mistake.

Good save. Is that part of the track purposely designed to have that effect? Seems a little unsafe.

Lots of questions because I don't race and dunno how to handle a car at those speeds... no insult intended in my post.

What track is that? Was this your first lap?

What did he say, "you got too much of that XXXXX?" to which you replied, "I did, I did."

What do the red and green bars in the upper right of the HUD indicate?

I appreciate your posting the video. It's good to know that only the bolt-on aero's were damaged.

Thank you.

Car got light as it crested the hill; bad time for steering inputs. Green and red bars are throttle and brake inputs.

That was actually last October, during the Tarheel BWM CCA event I believe.

I still struggle with getting those damn esses right after 12+ events. Once you screw the entry exiting 6, it's best to just wait until the exit of 9 to recover.

I had a bad feeling going in during this lap.

1) Turned into 7 too early
2) Compensated by staying track left too long
3) Turned in early to 8 which abruptly loaded driver's side of the car
4) Maintained too much steering angle going through the T8 apex
5) Rode the curbing too high, which upset the car over the crest
6) Lifted entering T8.

When the car unweighted at the apex, the combination caused the rear to instantly break loose into a spin.

I've since focused less on entry speed, more on lines and ensuring the wheel is straight tat the T8 apex, maintain maintenance throttle through exit of 8 and trying to lose <10 MPH from entry to exit through the esses.

PTM was in Race mode.

I've since switched to Sport 2, but given the driver errors, I doubt that would have helped much.

My hope is that getting the rear camber properly set at DSC (and installing their controller), will have a greater chance of mitigating how the rear-end let's go; hopefully less abruptly.

All in all I was very lucky to avoid the tires. My instructor that day had just spent $9k having his entire C5 race car motor rebuilt. We were doing some hot laps in it and just before entering T14 on the back straight, it made a clunking noise, and flames started pouring out of the engine compartment. He hit the fire suppression system and we pulled off and jumped out. It's amazing how quickly you can undo a 5-point harness and scramble out of a full cage when the car is on fire!

He was pretty bummed and judging from the metal engine case pieces we found on the track, one or more rods let go.

Are you running a Z06 with no Z07 and still on stock Michelin pilot sports?
