Default Key Fob question

Hi, figured I would go to my garage today to drive my c7 after it was sitting for a few weeks. I hit the unlock and nothing. I hit every button on the fob and nothing. I tried to open the doors with my hand on the door opener handles and again nothing. After about 4 to 5 mins the remote started to work as if nothing ever happened. Has anyone ever had this problem? By the way this happened a few weeks ago as well.

Does it do this with both of your fobs? Wondering if the battery is going bad in one fob..

Also, if you hadn't had the car on a battery tender you may have discharged the battery to the point it was almost out of power with which to open the doors.

If this happened a few weeks ago, did you drive it then which would have recharged the battery until yesterday when again the battery had a problem in opening the doors and (I'll bet) had a problem in starting the engine.

Remember, there are always a few circuits left alive designed to prevent the car from being stolen which draws down the battery.

This recently happened to me so I grabbed the key fob I don't use since I am the only driver.
It worked.

Prior I had noticed for a few weeks the door would not open unless I pressed the "Open Door" button. I had replace that FOB battery about 1 1/2 years ago.

Opened both FOBs and checked the battery voltage with a meter I have used for years that loads the specific battery type selected so it reads voltage with an appropriate load applied. Both read just in the OK area from the weak zone. Put in new batteries that read well into the "Good Area." Both FOB's now work fine. I also used a pencil eraser on the battery contacts.

Bottom line it appears the FOB batteries need to be relatively new and strong. Easy to check, replace with a new battery.

Change the FOB battery and that should do it.

Thanks, It should be the same battery as the 2010 c6. I bought a few extra a few months ago. I will try the battery fob change. After it finally worked the car started fine no slow start at all. Will let you know what happened. Thanks

its amazing that it worked after about ten mins with a bad battery. You would think it wouldnt and that it would work asap then die.Oh well in any case batteries changed.

I agree. I actually thought it was the car battery, but I had that checked too and it tested good. Plus I keep it on the charger if I don't drive it. The crazy quirks of the corvette.
