Default Memory seat programming

My 2014 2LT seat will go back to exit but will not go back to driving setting when I close the door. Is this right?

^^^Correct. It won't move when the door closes. On the 14's you have to hold the memory button down until the seat is in position OR push the start button.

Note: Some 14's, mine included, had to have a dealer update to enable the push start button option. This option was not listed in the menu until after the update.

The 2014 standard shift C7's had several problems with seat memeory recall that were changed in 2016 but IMO never fixed. I'll explain:

As delivered, mine requires holding my seat button in until the seat, mirrors and telescoping wheel move to my preset driving position. It also has an irrational setting that does have the seat move to the preset position automatically to the FOB in your pocket "as soon as the door is opened." I refer to that as designed for "Superman" who is faster than a speededing bullet!

About a year after I received my car GM came out with "optional software," as they called it, that required a double press of the start button. That IMO was not the "fix" I was thinking was being implemented, which is what I had in my prior C6-hit the memory button once and it started the return sequence.

By the time of the "GM labeled optional method" I had a year to learn a faster way to start my DD than their "option" so never had the software installed. I just use two hands, here's how:

It is easiest to reach the seat belt with the seat all the way back. When I get in I use my right hand to grab the belt and reach over to buckle. At the "same time" I push and hold my #1 button with a finger on my left hand. The wife accuses me of not multitasking-that is my multitask!

When the seat belt is buckled and the seat is far enough foward for me to depress the clutch I then push the start button ONLY ONCE to start the car.

With the GM "Optional Software," it requires using your right hand to hit the start button, but unless you are very tall and can depress the clutch with the seat all the way back, it doesn't start but will put the seat in the programmed position of your FOB. Then you must use your right hand to grab the seat belt to buckle it. The belt is tougher to reach with the seat forward. Or you can waste time and do the tasks sequentially, i.e. 1) Buckle the seat belt, 2) Hit the start key to have the seat move, 3 ) After it moves forward, depress the clutch and PUSH THE START KEY AGAIN TO START THE CAR. A waste of movement and time!

Since mine is a DD with trips to the store etc a PIA IMO. I like my learned, faster method so never had the other software installed.

Why they just didn't program at least the 2016 and 2017 like the C6 (and prior Vettes) was never explained! They did however eliminate the "Supermen" move the seat as soon as the door is opened option for 2016 and 2017.

Makes me think they outsourced the software to someone who did not own a car! Your choice, some like the, Hit the Start Key Twice Option! Perhaps they fly a plane and are happy to use a check list sequence before takeoff!

The M7 2014/2015 software was probably outsourced to someone who didn't drive!
