Aloha Gentlemen!
I took delivery on the 20th and would like your input if my wheels (hub assembly in particular) look the way they should... I would have compared mine to other Grand Sports, but there weren't any there at the time. There wasn't even a Stingray that had finished its PDI either. I noticed that the front has a much nicer and smoother finish than the rear. (Forgive me for not cleaning them before the photos... but even after cleaning, the rear especially still looks and feels "unfinished.")

Is this how they all look?
If so, what do you all use to make them look nicer, especially the rears?
Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

(Yep, missing my center caps because they were stolen by someone at the dealership. Waiting on new ones to arrive)

Thank you!
Jennifer

Aloha! Lots of parts associated with brakes will 'weather' a bit - sometimes pretty quickly. For example, the cooling fins on rotors, etc. Our GS was delivered about a month ago but we haven't been able to use it yet (we live on the side of a mountain and have had over 4 feet of snow so far. ). I just got some low dust pads that I'm going to install in the next couple of weeks, and I also got some high-temp satin clear that I'm going to use on some of the areas that can weather such as you show.

I would suggest that you try cleaning the areas up with a cleaner like brakeclean, then a scotch brite pad, then mask areas you don't want to hit and give a couple of light coats of high-temp satin clear.

Enjoy your GS!!

Jennifer, it looks like the dealer clean up folks sprayed something on the wheels to clean them, and didn't get it all off. Heck. I would ask the dealer to try again. They shouldn't look like that.

Rebel, yes that's what it looks like to me.

Jennifer, since you've mentioned in the past that your husband is mechanically savvy, it would be a pretty simple matter to pull the affected wheels and clean it up per what Hopper said above.

Thank you fellas for your suggestions! We will take them off hopefully this week and do as Hopper suggests.

I didn't let my dealer do any detailing of the car, so they were pretty much like that when I picked it up.

I did, however, spray the rims with Sonax Full Effect on my initial wash... perhaps the overspray from that exaggerated the condition, but I can't say for certain.
