I just found out that teaching yourself how to window tint your new car, even with pre-cut film, is not a good idea on a C7 GS. I did a lot of studying and youtube research, and gotta tell you, the experts make it look wayyyyy easier than it really is.
i did my leased explorer sport. While it looks great from 3 feet away, when you get up close you can see several tiny bubbles towards the bottom edges. Doesn't look too bad, but for the C7 i'd want it to be perfect. Seriously though, i cleaned the windows so well, and thought it was perfectly clean, but still some dust underneath. they do make it look too easy...
Several years ago, I tried to apply tint to some home windows. You would think that on flat, small windows it would be easy, but you would be wrong! I could never get an acceptable job after hours of working, so I discarded it all. Some things are better left to people who do it millions of times!!!
Ha ha, isn't that the truth!
I've tinted a couple of our service trucks over the years, and they're just OK, but that's one talent left to those who have done the reps. Many many times.

Cost-wise, it seems to me to be very, very worth it to have a pro do a job like this. Especially when compared to the overall cost of the car... you'd want to pay to have it done right, imo. Time alone makes it something I'd rather pay to have done.
