I WAS BROWSING THE GIRLFRIENDS "DON'T GET SCREWED MAGAZINE" AND SAW THEIR AUTO REPORTS GAVE THE C 7 A VERY FAVORABLE REPORT FOR ALL THE REASONS WE MADE OUR DECISION.
The C7 is relatively unreliable compared to most cars (Consumer Reports is the only entity I know of that conducts such surveys), but I do think overall auto reliability has improved so much that is not the issue it might have been 20 years ago. At the same time, Corvette owners were either #1 or #2 (out of over 100 models surveyed) in customer satisfaction.
For 95% of owners a Corvette is a fun car, or even if they use it much of the time as a daily driver (like me) they aren't stranded when it is in the shop, they have another car or two. I'd be more inconvenienced if one of my other cars had maintenance issues than if I had to leave the C7 at the dealer. But my 2007 C6 was very reliable (owned that for 2 years, drove it 12K miles) and I expect the C7 to be as well.
