Default Playlists on flash drive

I recently put a bunch of music onto flash drives using Windows 10 Media Player. The music plays fine on my C7 sound system except that the system will not recognize playlists. It recognizes artists, albums, etc., but not playlists. Since I enjoy playlists including different artists, albums, etc., it's kind of a pain. Am I doing something wrong, or is this something I will just have to live with? Any advice or help is appreciated.

There are several variables to consider, not covered in your post. For example...

1. What Playlist file type are you using? .M3U is the recommended format.

2. How are you creating the Playlists on your flash drive? If you're simply copying playlist files from your PC hard drive to the flash drive, that likely will not work.

3. Windows Media Player can work, but I stopped using it several versions ago, as I found it inconsistent and unreliable for this purpose. I continue to live by the old program WinAmp for this task. While WinAmp is no longer updated, it still works perfectly on my Win10 PC, especially for syncing my Music Collection to two 128GB drives (one for my C7 and the other for my Electric Caddy ELR).

4. I have zero issues syncing collection of 14,500+ songs, along with about 10 different playlists, each consisting of anywhere between 50 to 500+ tracks.

I'd be happy to try to assist you further, but you'll need to provide more info on the specific procedure you're working through and the file types you're using for both the music files and the playlists.

NostraD is right on the format needed. And you can use Media Player, I do. When you create the playlist do it with the files on the flashdrive and save the playlist you create directly to the flashdrive. I've done it a bunch of times for both my Corvette and Silverado.

Found a post where I showed how to make playlists with Media Player.

Attached is the method I used to create "Playlists" using iTunes. It works on the C7 and other Chevrolet systems.

There is a sticky thread around here too.

I posted a PDF in there about how to do it from iTunes.

The most important part as others have touched on is .M3U files, and then within those files that the "path" is correct. If the "path" is wrong then the ,M3U can't find the MP3 files and therefore the playlist is "empty" and doesn't show up on the MyLink system.

Here is an example of the beginning of one of my playlists

#Playlist: 'Beatles (All Mix)' exported by iTunesExport (Flex) http://www.ericdaugherty.com/dev/itunesexport/
..\The Beatles\Please Please Me (Mono)\01 I Saw Her Standing There.mp3
..\The Beatles\Please Please Me (Mono)\02 Misery.mp3
..\The Beatles\Please Please Me (Mono)\03 Anna (Go To Him).mp3
..\The Beatles\Please Please Me (Mono)\04 Chains.mp3
..\The Beatles\Please Please Me (Mono)\05 Boys.mp3
..\The Beatles\Please Please Me (Mono)\06 Ask Me Why.mp3

the ..\ is because I keep my M3U files in a playlist folder. If you keep them in the "root" folder it would just be \ (no ..)

As you can also tell I have my files organized by Artist then Album.
