Good question. Also, what's up with the cameras, do you have to un-bolt them off the Stingray grill and re-mount them on the Z06 grill I assume? I presume they are wired, are the existing wires the right length?

No insult at all! Different strokes for different folks! In my case any money I save I use to buy a new Corvette every year or 2. Got a 16Z now. A little tape here and there saves me $s and you could not tell the difference believe me!

Get it painted have it chip repeat.

No insult taken.

I'd challenge you to look at my car and then at a car with the real thing and tell the difference. You couldn't. I'll use the money I saved for some other something for my Corvette.

Your 2016 Z51 was $92K?

Great looking C7! A couple of thoughts:

* If you like the look of a Z06/GS grill, it's an easy swap and I think they look really nice. You're Z51 brake intake ducts will line up perfectly in the swap. This link may help: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-and-pics.html

* You might want to consider some side skirts, as (personal taste) they look nice and also do a great job of protecting the side of the car from rock pits. Front splitter (around $100 and easy to install) also look nice.

Enjoy your ride!!!

I get it. I spent money on CF tape, then installed a Z06 grill, then bought a GS (at my wife's insistence!!).

I'll start with the tape kit and if it bugs me I'll worry about a Z06 grill later.

The cameras are a different shape on each of the grills, and are also built into the grill. So basically you have to buy the "camera grill" which is more money of course lol. But yes they come pre-wired with a connector. So just unplug while you are removing the front bumper for grill swap and then reconnect the new ones when you put it all back together.

Green76, The Z06 grill uses a different plate holder. You will need a plate holder made for the Z06 grill..

Yes it did. I ordered it with every option available. Even side skirts in Carbon fiber and a splitter in carbon flash, and a carbon fiber roof.

The electrical tape is no worse than putting any kind of vinyl on your car whether it be full length factory stripes or GS hash marks. It seems cheesy only because your mindset is that electrical tape wasn't originally intended to perform this function. With that said, there are quality versions of electrical tape and there are el-cheapo versions that I would recommend avoiding.

Nice.

I got the carbon fiber roof panel as well but usually use the transparent top. You know you must post some photos, right?

I put the carbon flash vinyl strip from vettefx over the retainer two years ago on my daily driver. 13,000 miles, rain, Texas sun, many washes and it still looks great. It's a good match and looks OEM for a 15-minute install and only $20.

Think I'll get some chrome tape for the Z!

Z06 Grill for me, and I had the factory blacked out grill. I think it made a lot of difference. Here are pics with each.

Where do you buy the Z06 grill with the adapters for the Z51 cameras. Does anyone have a link? Thanks for all the great input, much appreciated.

The grill and the cameras are one piece. You can't reuse your Z51 cameras. Check with Gene Culley on this board, he is where I bought mine, also Trunk Monkey also on this board. Both are first class vendors.

I did the electrical tape method and it lasted for about six months, then started to come loose on the ends. For Plan B I masked the strip and applied four coats of PlastiDip (flat black) and it has held up fine now for about nine months. I would recommend that method, as it doesn't take long to apply if you don't count the wait between coats.

Look at my post above #27, cameras are different.

Part number 23334750
Seems that it is discontinued now... major bummer!

I think RPI might still have them.

Even have a sale going on until this Sunday.
