Best approach to black out grill on Z51 Coupe

Good question. Also, what's up with the cameras, do you have to un-bolt them off the Stingray grill and re-mount them on the Z06 grill I assume? I presume they are wired, are the existing wires the right length?

I have a carbon flash grill from the factory on my 2016 Z51. Personally my car never would have left the dealership until the grill was replaced, had it been silver or chrome. I cannot imagine putting a piece of electrical tape on my $92,000 car and calling it good. I'm sorry but that just seems cheesy to me. Have it painted or replace it with a black grill that is just my opinion. Certainly don't want to insult anyone just my thoughts on the situation.
Get it painted have it chip repeat.

I'd challenge you to look at my car and then at a car with the real thing and tell the difference. You couldn't. I'll use the money I saved for some other something for my Corvette.
Your 2016 Z51 was $92K?

Great looking C7! A couple of thoughts:
* If you like the look of a Z06/GS grill, it's an easy swap and I think they look really nice. You're Z51 brake intake ducts will line up perfectly in the swap. This link may help: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-and-pics.html
* You might want to consider some side skirts, as (personal taste) they look nice and also do a great job of protecting the side of the car from rock pits. Front splitter (around $100 and easy to install) also look nice.
Enjoy your ride!!!
I get it. I spent money on CF tape, then installed a Z06 grill, then bought a GS (at my wife's insistence!!).

I'll start with the tape kit and if it bugs me I'll worry about a Z06 grill later.

Yes it did. I ordered it with every option available. Even side skirts in Carbon fiber and a splitter in carbon flash, and a carbon fiber roof.

I got the carbon fiber roof panel as well but usually use the transparent top. You know you must post some photos, right?

I put the carbon flash vinyl strip from vettefx over the retainer two years ago on my daily driver. 13,000 miles, rain, Texas sun, many washes and it still looks great. It's a good match and looks OEM for a 15-minute install and only $20.

Where do you buy the Z06 grill with the adapters for the Z51 cameras. Does anyone have a link? Thanks for all the great input, much appreciated.

The grill and the cameras are one piece. You can't reuse your Z51 cameras. Check with Gene Culley on this board, he is where I bought mine, also Trunk Monkey also on this board. Both are first class vendors.

I did the electrical tape method and it lasted for about six months, then started to come loose on the ends. For Plan B I masked the strip and applied four coats of PlastiDip (flat black) and it has held up fine now for about nine months. I would recommend that method, as it doesn't take long to apply if you don't count the wait between coats.

Seems that it is discontinued now... major bummer!
