Default ANOTHER X-pipe question

My Borla X-pipe is on the way thanks to Joshua at Meraki - thanks for the good service and effort getting one coming my way.

Question: I've read through the Borla instructions and the sticky thread for installation. Seems pretty straight forward and I have a hoist available.
Both installations mention removing and reusing the gasket at the exhaust manifold. In the Borla pictures it appears to be a sizable tapered gasket.
1. Is it a typical "high temp" solid gasket?
2. Is it fragile like some of the ceramic gaskets that take high temp just fine, but if they stick at all on the flange they break easily?
3. Should I have new gaskets on hand before I start pulling out the OEM pipe and cats?
4. Do I need a high temp gasket sealer?
5. Am I over thinking this and should I just rip it out and put the new one in LOL
Thanks -- tom

Just use a smaller tip screwdriver and carefully work your way around the gasket. Acutually, it's more of a heat resistant composite than ceramic, but definitely breakable if you're not careful.

3. Should I have new gaskets on hand before I start pulling out the OEM pipe and cats? I'd say no as long as you're careful. I didn't have any issues.

4. Do I need a high temp gasket sealer? No.

5. Am I over thinking this... Yes. Just take your time and you'll be fine.
Good luck

Those round exhaust donuts are strong, just twist/pry them off even all the way around. A little wd 40 will not hurt them, use it on the pipe the donuts are wrapped around and they will slide up rather easy.

Thanks to both of you above. I just didn't want the car on the hoist with problems from what seems a pretty easy switch-out.

Nothing wrong with planning an installation while waiting for the goods to arrive. Good luck!
