There illegal even if you can see through them? If light still goes through I don't see why they would be. The acrylic flat ones I have will prolly be scetchy
I'm thinking the real issue is that they are probably not "DOT" approved (as are the factory lamps). At issue is whether or not they would pass / qualify for such Certification.
It's not a matter of wether "you can see through them." It's the fact that they reduce light output from the intended design. Most, if not all, taillight covers ship with a disclaimer that states: For off road use only. Or something similar.
Nothing like I pictured at all. That's what you get.
So these are the sectional ones? And not the flat ones? Cuz if so that makes no sense and where did they get the picture for the description then? So weird.

Nothing sectional about them those pieces go behind them maybe to make it look sectional. That's what I'd love to know cause they are nothing like it shows. In the picture not even close
I want my tail and other marker lights to be as bright as they can possibly be. Dimming them to achieve what some people consider to be a cooler look is just plain foolish.

we get it, some of you guys don't like tinted covers! Thanks for another post on this thread regarding this, so very helpful. Also do you not realize that most of these don't really affect light output?! Especially with new LED taillights, And I can say this first hand, as well as many of the other people that post this as well.
And I suppose you're going to tell me that sunglasses don't affect the amount of light to your eyes or that tint doesn't affect the amount of light entering the cabin either. I wonder why tint is rated for percentage of light filtered out.
It's not that I don't like them, they're a safety hazard, and there's a reason they're illegal just about everywhere.

I agree OP posted this up for those of us who may be interested in these light tints, which quite a few of us actually are. I like tinted lights and am considering tinting my tail lights, therefore this is a thread for those interested in this product. Nowhere did OP or anyone else ask for anybody's opinion of whether or not they think these are a safety issue. It's no different when someone posts about a high speed they reached driving or street racing and the safety police chime in how dangerous and stupid it is. Well thanks for playing daddy, and telling me how stupid or dangerous something is. We are all grown men and women here and not looking for your opinion of if it's illegal or stupid. If your not interested in buying these or tinting your tail lights, than move on past this thread, and leave it for those it was intended for.

I am very interested in these but I do not like the fact that they are not molded like the one they have pictured. If they were molded I'd buy them in an instant.
