Put a filler neck on both sides. Symmetry, balance, access, etc.

It definitely should be on the driver side. Open the door and take one step to the filler cap. Why would anybody want to walk around to the other side of the car while dragging the hose over the top of the backside. Just pull far enough away from the island so that you can fully open the door. This is a no brainer.

Actually England and their colonies are the only ones to do it. Not Europe !!

How about making future Corvette owners happy. Put the fuel filler on the RIGHT side instead of the left. Currently, when I pull into a fuel station to fill up, I have to park further away from my pump because the long Corvette doors swing open so far. Added to this are metal posts used as barriers at most fuel stations and are positioned at the ends of the fuel islands. Sometimes, because I have to park so close the the center line of the lane there is very little room for the vehicle next to me to open their door.
If the fuel filler was on the right side, I could pull in close to the pump, have plenty of room to open the driver's door, and still leave enough room for the vehicle next to me.
So, how about it?

I would rather be the one that opens the door near a pole than whomever may be in the passenger seat and wants to get out of the car.
And since the 53's had it on the left, shouldn't tradition mean it has to stay on that side. or maybe put it on top of the back end of the car like C2s through C5s. The previous sentence is complete sarcasm for those that can't always recognize it.

Yet with all that government regulation there are still "thieves or worse" in the world. Some people are more comfortable with a Nanny State government telling them what to do, but I would suggest many of these thieves are a part of government and that regulations are as much political as anything. That "regulations protect you" is the excuse of every dictatorship in history. Why can't you pump your own gas in Oregon and New Jersey? Because the government has decided you need protection from yourself because you probably won't know how to do it properly. And with all this regulation there are still plenty of sugar pills on the market. Or haven't you noticed?

To me this is a non issue. Just park forward or rearward of any pole. Almost every hose will reach like that. Never been an issue. I like having on drivers side, and side as most race cars.

Car makers, even Nissan, have cars with right and left side gas fillers. It's about the best packaging on that particular car. It has nothing to do with regulations. US makers have no restriction which side to use. For the idea of putting on both sides, industry says there is neither a general interest in it our room for it. If you're parking where your door can hit a pole, you are doing it wrong.

If you rent a car or maybe steal one and need gas and don't know what side it's on you can look at the gas gauge and the little pump icon will have an arrow pointing toward the side of the filler door.
I prefer the drivers side, I can better estimate how far to pull up, I dictate how much room I have to get out of the car, and I won't get run over by someone pulling up beside me to get gas.

If you guys all had C4's it'd be the best because the gas cap it in the middle on the deck lid LOL. I see what the point is though, I had a corolla with the gas cap on the left and I still didn't like it.
