Does your vette have a rough idle? I have a 2016 with just under 2k miles and have noticed this almost from the start. It does have a large engine, so it could go with the territory. Thanks!
Thanks for the replies. Our Challenger also has a large V8 and doesn't idle like this. My Camaro didn't either, so I was wondering if there was an issue.
It's not just the size of the engine - it's the tune, cam, etc. that is in the engine. Likely, it's mostly related to the camshaft. You could have the same degree of roughness with a small engine as a large if the tune were such to give a similar power to displacement ratio.
There is a certain amount of rough idle designed in as an homage to the rough idling muscle of years ago. With that being said rough idle is subjective. I see you ride and have other v8's so you are familiar enough with engines to notice something amiss. If the motor is smooth other than at idle the chances are good that's it's normal operation. Certainly bad gas, sitting for a while, summer blend vs winter fuel, even a loss of power could cause short term issues. I only mention this since you have multiple transportation options.
I would hope a rough idle outside of parameters would throw a light, but as long as your oil level is good it would be GM's issue.
To give you example of what some are saying about the difference in engine set-ups. My wife has a '13 Mustang GT with the 5.0L that has a bit of a rough idle, and I have a '13 F-150 with the 5.0L that idles smoothly. Same size engine, but different applications.
BTW, my '16 Vert idles rough also. You're good to go.
Consensus in the forum (not just this thread) is that it's normal, even if it shakes the cabin a bit. I find this surprising but a relief, because my C7 Z51 has what seems to be an exceptionally rough idle. A salesman agreed with me when we sat in my car, then another C7 on the lot. Once or twice a second, it jostles the cabin. My dad's C6 doesn't do that. It was worried enough that I was planning to take the car in for diagnostics this month. Guess I'll live with it....

I have just over 500 miles on my 2016 C7. I wondered about this at first as well. But considering the idle rpm and the size of the pistons, etc., and not knowing all the specifics about the cam, I have come to the conclusion that it is normal with this engine.
Plus, as soon as I press the gas pedal to accelerate, there is never any hesitation, just a strong, smooth increase in speed.
May I suggest driving the car to get it broke in after 3 years , lol 500-2000 miles in 3-4 years is not using the car at all.
I have 3100 miles after 9 months and I feel guilty?
