Default Borla X-Pipe Install! - ThatCuteGinger

Hey all! If you have been on the fence about replacing the stock x-pipe, do it! No, it will not give you an appreciable performance bump, it is merely to increase the volume and make it sound better. These can be had for under $400 these days, and for the price, and ease of installment, I would say go for it! Fitment was perfect, and the install was very straight forward. Let me know if you have any questions, and as always, please subscribe to Ginger's page for more C7 videos! Oh, there is also a video of the before and after under various conditions. You can definitely here it in person, and now that it has been on for a couple of months, the sound seems even better.

I would love to install one on my car but not willing to take the chance that an emissions inspector will notice that the secondary cats have been deleted. Not that likely but still not willing to take the chance.

Fair enough! Better to err on the side of caution when it comes to fines!

2014 C7 - converted the transformation of the Borla ATAK with the X-Pipe 2 years ago. Awesome sound. Not overly obnoxious but definitely a throatier growl.

I'm in California and don't have to worry about that! New Vehicles are exempt from a SMOG test for 6 years. By that time I'll either put the original back on or it will be sold. I did buy the Borla X-PIPE and I'm waiting to get it installed.

Thank u for posting! That's seemed too easy to install. I'm embarrassed to say I had a shop install mine (but it was with the Extreme's installed at the same time.)

Installing the axle back portion is a pain because of the diffuser removal.

No worries.

Is the difference worth the install/purchase? I have watched quite a few videos and I really can't tell the difference. Is it more apparent in person?

I did mine a month ago. Pulled fuse as well.
I expected a slightly better sound but let me tell you it is better than that. Now at least the car sounds like it should have. Plus, the original X pipe is made so poorly. The Borla looks and sounds a whole lot better in person. And at WOT the car roars

Ok, cool, thanks for the feedback. So the video is a bit misleading in terms of effort. Or at least the expectation needs to be set so someone doesn't think it's a complete breeze installation!

The video isn't misleading at all. This was just the X-pipe, not the axle-back which requires the removal of the diffuser. This was actually very straightforward as depicted in the video.

King, absolutely worth it. The videos don't do it justice, but the increase in "growl" is definitely noticeable.

Yes, the video shows just the x-pipe. Very easy to install. Just need to unbolt a lot of bolts.

Axle back is a different story.

Midpipe is totally worth it. Contact us for pricing!

Best bang for the buck non-warranty voiding mod there is on the C7. One person with a jack and jack stands can have it on within 2-3 hours easily. It is the perfect amount of loudness. And even then, if you get tired of it, simply turn to touring. But lets just say you'll want to keep it in sport and track all the time. haha

Will this pass smog in CA? Seems like from what I've read, the answer is no.
Thanks, Jerry

I'm hoping to hear this in person at the Hot Springs AR Corvette show this year. Where did you buy yours? I have been pricing them at a few places but haven't seen under $400 yet. Thanks

Just wanted to bump this thread to let people know I finally found one less than $400.

I ordered from autoanything and they got me sub $400! I actually found it from a vendor here for $2.69 cheaper yesterday but after the sales rep let me know what an inconvenience it would be to him for me to call back when I got off the interstate to give him payment, I let him know not to worry about the order.

Can't wait for the install!

I installed mine about 2 weeks ago. I drew the short straw and my flanges were not pre-drilled from Borla. After I attempted to tap it and broke the tap I called Borla tech support and they overnighted me another one on a Saturday. Because of the awesome support, I am going to buy the Atak catback when they launch the blackened tips (not available yet). If I was paying a shop, I would have burned up labor rates only to find out it was not installable, so good thing I was able to do it myself!!

I used a drive on lift the second attempt at install took 1 hour. It is the best bang for the buck, everyone in my club asked if I already installed a new exhaust. Just the X-pipe that is it!
