My 2014 Night Race blue Stingray has had the clear paint protector installed on the entire front half of the car (doors forward)
As spring approaches I'm considering a full detail of my car done by me. I have used Adams products for several years on my black C-5 convertible, and I believe in their products.
Now the question, what is the procedure for cleaning and waxing over the clear plastic that was installed over the paint on the front end of the car? I'm assuming the clay bar is acceptable and any proper washing too, but what about waxing over the protector? Does anyone have suggestions on proper waxing or no waxing at all?
No such thing as a stupid question regarding car care. However, I'm surprised the installer did not provide you with the proper maintenance process as each film/type, etc. requires a different system to maintain. Some use regular wax and some have a special formula for cleaning, etc.
You can clay and wax no problem. Is it wrapped under the panels or does it end abruptly mid panel? If there are clear bra edges visible just ensure you work from clear bra to paint to avoid getting product stuck under the edge of the clear bra. If it's wrapped under panels no changes for it.
I used clay on one of my wrapped cars (fortunately not my Corvette) and the results were disastrous. The entire area looked like I'd wiped it with steel wool. I suppose it could have been due to my technique but I don't think so. The good news is that I was able to restore the affected area with my orbiter and some very fine polish but it was a lot of work.
The XPEL on my Camaro loves Adams Buttery Wax. 4 years, 0 problems. As mentioned before, careful of the edges and all will be fine.

This was exactly the experience a friend had with claying the XPEL. There really is no need for that. I would highly recommend avoiding clay bar on the wrap.

DO NOT use clay bar on clear film. Most PPF manufactures (including XPEL) recommend Teflon cleaner/wax.

When I had XPEL applied to my Mini, the installer clued me into these two products - cleaner and sealant. I tried them on the 3M clear bra on my C7 and they work on that as well.
