C6 ZO6 vs C7 Grand Sport head to head
A few years ago I had the chance to test drive a c6 z06. I'm no Michael Schumacher and have never been to a track. I was almost scared of pushing the car at all even during straight line acceleration because I was scared of the tail coming out or losing traction on public roads. That car was 505 hp. I'm looking at 2017 c7 grand sports and they are 460hp. Is the c7 GS a lot more driver friendly because of slightly less power and way more "babysitting" by the traction control software that keeps you from getting into trouble easily? Head to head how do these two cars compare. C6 z06 manual vs c7 GS manual.

The C7 has a longer wheel base than the C6 which gives better yaw stability. Combine that with higher friction coefficient tires and less power and probably a better stability control system and the C7 has a lot going for it in the easier to drive category.

try that in a C6Z lol.
You'll be fine. It's having the upgraded everything of a C7 Z06 designed to handle 650/650 with 460/450.
like Z06 light. Hammer away.

As far as fast/faster than a C7GS?? I don't have a GS (base 15 A8) his Z will not pull me much to 60 and that's mostly him having to feather it a bit for traction. My C7 is much more controllable from a dig to 60/70 but is still just a bit behind. The C6Z06 has more HP and is a little lighter than my C7. I would have to say it's a drivers race to 60 (and I'm not bench racing, we've done a couple shots on roads in Mexico) At 60/70 the story changes; the C6Z will pull straight away, although still has traction issues and driver needs to pay attention. My C7 in track mode/competitive mode after the hole shot is MUCH MUCH more controllable, just keep the pedal down and steer. 1/4 mile times; he's in the mid 11's, I'm lucky at 12 flat but according to my PDR 12.1/12.3 is pretty standard. He's out on me by at least 2 1/2 to 3 cars easily. That's why I call him mid-high 11's. (street trim, on the street W/street tires)
I think the new GS with cup2's and a little tighter gear ratio at a prepped drag track would do a bit better and crack into the 11's pretty consistently. Again with my neighbors Z -- drivers race.
Reading the C/D and track times rags the new GS is a beast (Pro-drivers) at the ring and scores up with a lot of super-cars. The 427 Z's are down the list a little bit, so the advances in technology obviously are in play.
Short answer to a long winded reply; YES the GS is much easier to drive at speed than the C6Z06. More fun than the Z?; depends on your pucker power factor LOL

I have seriously considered unloading my C7 Z51 for a modded C6Z. It's such a bad *** car and I love the rawness of it. But I really like my C7 interior...so that's where I'm at. There are some really nice modded C6Z cars on the C6 for sale boards too.

I have a 17 GS and drove my friends C6Z and it feels like my GS is just as fast up to a point and I haven't really got into his Z at high speed but I am sure with 505 HP, it should be faster. I don't have the stomach for more than 100 MPH anymore, LOL.

Simply put jump on the throttle and both are a handful. Nannies and all there will be some traction issues and triple digits are there in a heartbeat.

Along with the eDiff, the C7 does a much better job of reducing the snap oversteer of the C6.

I would rather have a 2014 C7 Z51 vert than a 2013 C6 Z06 but maybe that's just me.

youtube full of videos c7 vs c6z. The GS should have been a 500-520hp car. Not taking advantage of the superior suspension and extra rubber over base car.
Same mistake made with the C6 GS.
50hp/tq over base is the move.

yeah. Most of these cars are within a car length to 60mph. Which is literally crawling in a race. 0 to say 120 or 130 is the bigger one. And the 427 cu of the C6Z and flat torque is huge.

Imagine a C7-GS with an LS7?

The difference between a C7 GS and C7 Z06 is 190 HP, I would hardly call a 41% increase "slight".
I recently put 500 miles over a 4 week period on a 2016 Z06. Couple days ago, I full-throttled a 2017 GS, I was shocked at how slow it was. It was like "when does the power kick in?" All driving done in the Denver area where all cars lose around 20% HP due to thin air. Lack of forced induction makes "nannies" unnecessary.

Add a Mamo ported TB, X pipe, diablo 93 tune and Vitesse throttle controller to the GS- all relatively cheap mods. Feels about like my 2012 Z06. And my car will now easily get sideways 2-3 and 3-4 in sport mode. Part of the problem with the stock GS is the shitty factory fly by wire throttle calibration. And i'm not saying it's anywhere near the power of the C7Z, nor should it be with only 460 HP. But it drives like a whole different car with a few simple mods. And yes, i understand and respect if some of you have concerns over nulling your warranty and mods- please don't rehash that debate here. Just making a point as to what i see as part of the reason why the GS is considered slow. Product liability and lawyers overriding engineering.

got my first c6z in nov 05, traded my last c6z in this past april for c7gs. c7 gs is superior in every way except hp. if the gs had ls7 it would be my perfect corvette. that said the , i am quicker in the gs. it handles better, is less prone to snap oversteer and just seems to be much better balanced overall. the mag ride on the gs is fantastic . every gen just keeps getting better and better.

I currently own both, night and day difference. The Z06 is very scary to drive at its limits. especially in the rain. I would pick up a C7 Grand Sport if I had to choose between the two. The Z06 is a lot of fun to drive. still puts a smile on my face, its brute force. The C7 Grand Sport feels much more nimble and controllable. Just my .02
