In other news, Z06 owners grin thinking "ya, sure, this article is written for poor people who can't afford a Z06 to make themselves feel better". The Z51 crowd says "screw this article, my Z51 is every bit as capable as the GS", but mutter "God damit, I should have sent junior to community college for 2 years and got the GS". And the base vette guys and gals chime in with "my vette is every bit as awesome as everyone else's vette, except I'm smarter than all those other fools and didn't waste all my money on those fancy packages and bells and whistles that I won't use. That's how these corporations get you man, by upselling you crap you don't need".
At the end of the day, this article resolves nothing except we are all here because we all love the corvette. As for the ranking, top dog is the Z06 and will soon be second to the ZR1.
I have a Camaro 1LE, which in the Camaro world is the equivalent of the GS. All the aero and suspension of the ZL1 without the extra weight and heft of the supercharged ZL1. Then came the Z28 which became king (much like the ZR1 will). However, as much as articles raved about my 1LE, I certainly would not say it's the best Camaro ever, it is to me, but certainty not in the real world. Why? Because I'm quicker than the ZL1 in and out of turns, but it will massacre me on the straights and the Z28 will send me home crying on a track day. So although we all have an instinctive need to feel justied with our purchases, the best vette for now is the Z06, soon to be replaced by the ZR1. More realistically though, in everyday life, the best vette for each is our own vette, the one we can afford and love. The one that makes us grin ear to ear like a careless kid every we start it.

It's an Internet article so it must be true. I believe everything I read online.

IF the additional power of the Z06 isn't important, then certainly the GS is the best Vette available.
YMMV, of course.

I don't.
Any of the C7s are just fine IMO.

Well stated-and you're certainly correct about the likely reactions by the various owners with their particular models. I have an early build C7, when the GS was not a choice, and I have no "GS envy" to acquire one.
The article makes it sound like the GS is as wide as a bus when maneuvering through traffic when in reality 3.5" are not going to make the difference fitting or not in someone's garage. With the same engine/HP as a Stingray as well as one with the Z51 performance package the street performance advantage of the GS is negligible. More driver skill than anything. On the track, yes, but how many owners are really capable of wringing out everything from these cars? Many of the other comments about the GS apply to all C7's (exhaust note, interior ergonomics, etc.) not like the GS somehow changed everything. If/when I get another new one it will be a Z06 or ZR1. I've owned 'Vettes for 43 years-all generations-and the best one has always been the next one. I'm not a GS hater, but just trying to put this article in perspective.

Hmmmm - don't know - started thinking GS was king. Then realized you got a lot in the base, especially with the Z51. But now, after building a Z06 at more like $85K, than the $100K plus mentioned in the article.

Now, that is a lot of $s and maybe 650 hp is too much for a mortal.

Or ..... with the right motivation, $85K may be within reach and 650 hp is possible to manage if the smile does not blind you.

So not so sure about the GS being King.

The scary thought is, what if a comparable Zora comes out and prices at only $5k over the base Z06 ........ What if it really is King? Pat

And that's exactly my point. To each of us, our own models are best. We all share the same love of this iconic car. But as someone who's livelihood depends on numbers, I can't ignore the fact that the Z06, not the GS puts out the best numbers across the board. Now, it's someone's opinion that GS is best, and that is fine, we're all entitled to an opinion, but reality of the numbers do not suggest that GS is best. It's an amazing machine, but the best?

Wow! I really did not realize the Grand Sport's "natural habitat" was Manhattan! Thank God for this informative and useful article.

If the rough ride and the $2K annual tire replacement budget doesn't phase you, perhaps. Better handling car at the limit.

If you can figure a way to pull 1.2 g's on a public road, let me know.

Article is spot-on:
The Grand Sport is a pure, visceral driver’s car...
The Grand Sport is so good that it doesn’t make sense, and that’s a big part of what makes it so attractive...

Edit: I'm glad I picked the best Corvette in the best color, so much better than what everyone else chose. I don't even know why they make a base, Z51 or Z06... LOL!!!

another sad slugfest of those who need to prove why their choice was best...

just makes me sad...

Makes me ashamed to be the new guy, the novice.. That guy who assumed the corvette family was about sharing our enjoyment of our unique cars, and how special they are.

In stead I get to look at posts centering on "all yall's cars are trash because the one I picked is Better . or more expensive"...

Just sad my friends... I come from a world of "One Team, One Fight". I watch these comments and can only see pettiness...

My apologies if I offend other like minded brothers and sisters out there.

This is scary. You must have read my mind... I will say that the first fellow corvette owner that o had the cancer to talk to, on the road stopped next to each other, uttered as his first words while looking up and down at my Stingray was "Do you at least have a manual in that thing?" He was in a Z06.
