$22.00 oil change--GM card
Just a heads up here. Paid above today for an oil change/filter on my '14. Got a flyer in the mail from GM Master Card....one of those things you likely throw in the trash. Decided to take a look at this one. $100 off on my next service visit. Was in need of an oil change so took the flyer to the dealer and did the change. Total charge $122.00, less the $100 credit=$22.00 to me. What's not to like here?
Suspect there a bunch of others here who use their GM card? Watch your mail. Expires 4-30-17.

Maybe, the $122 oil change regular price? Yikes!

My GMC/Buick dealer does it for $90, and my brake/ tire place will do it for $78 (9 qts.) or $19 if I bring the oil/filter.
It pays to shop around.

On my Caddillac AST I get 4 years worth... Just run it down to 20%, make an appointment, drop it off and drive home in a new Cadillac XT5, ATS or maybe a CTS.
Now my 08 LS3 $30 for oil PENZ Platinum & $5 for GM filter, drive to my shop, put it on my 4 post lift and I am done in 30 mins. Plus I have nice drive thru the back roads going home.. a few good twistys.

Don't have to worry about the dealer's Mechanics Helper:
1) Using their center post lift without jack pads and cracking a rocker panel;
2) Remembering there are two plugs in the pan (if he even knew about that);
3) Using the cheap "Oh-So-Peachy" brand dexos approved oil blend the dealer has in the oil change bay in 55 gallon drums and uses on all cars;
4) Setting his fill gun at the volume "estimate" in a table and overfilling resulting in oil dripping from the air filter etc!
5) Using max flow volume the pump in the 55 gallon drum allows as he does in a wet sump and spilling oil out of the fill opening! Having some spilled oil run down behind the tank next to the firewall where it's tough to clean. That is also where the loose fitting cover is located for the cabin air filter. A number of posts of folks reporting an oil smell for several weeks after an oil change!
At least at Jiffy Lub they use a pit so no rocker panels to crack and you can yell down to the tech, "Hey, remember there are two drain plugs." You can also watch to see if they run the engine and check the oil level as it clearly specifies as necessary in the Service Manual. That requires getting the oil hot, perhaps running the engine for 10 minutes, using a watch and waiting 5 minutes for oil to drain down from the dry sump tank baffles. But NOT more then 10 minutes or oil drains back to the pan and they will get a false low reading and overfill! Or just have them fill with 9 quarts and take the 10th home and set the level as many of us do in a dry sump, half way between Min and Max.
Yep, Free is not worth the possible consequences to me! To Each Their own.

Amazon for the oil and filter. Use a friend's lift. Cost about $50.

Reprimand??
Geezzz guys...I didn't expect to be scolded on my post.
I know the $122 was pricey but 9+ quarts of Mobil One ain't cheap. Also the dealers labor rate is $145/hour.
And you know what? I'll return to the dealer for my next oil change as I'm suspicious a "quicky lube" place would need some serious direction on the dry sump system, 2 drains etc. Sure as hell not worth the gamble.
Change it myself?? NOT!! I turn 76 in a couple of weeks, arthritic knee, hip and back. Old age might be hell but I'm very happy to be walking on the grass rather than fertilizing it and more than happy to still enjoy the Vette.
The POINT of my original post was merely to give a "heads up" to any forum members who have the GM card, nothing more.

I have a 2017 Stingray 2LT non-Z51 ('wet sump') that I factory-ordered. I drove it home February 1st and now have about 750 miles on it. I get the first two oil changes "free" from any Chevrolet dealership.........assuming one this fall when I hit about 4,000 miles and another one in the fall of 2018 when I hit 8,000 miles.
Beyond that, I am planning to do my own oil & filter changes.......as I have done on my vehicles for more than 30 years now. As others have mentioned, buying Mobil-1 from Wal-Mart or Costco is the way to go -- along with a decent oil filter.
My biggest worry with the Corvette is properly lifting it. I have a nice 3-ton floor jack, but I understand that using the "pucks" will be necessary. I am also not sure if the "dry sump" Stingray has two drain plugs or just one. I guess I will have to wait until I crawl under it in order to find out for myself.
Thanks to all of you on this forum. It's truly a wealth of knowledge!

I'm 74 but fortunatly in good heath and have hydrulic jacks that make lifting for mods and oil changes etc. easy.
My Grand Sport is scheduled to be built first week in April and have already bought ceramic brake pads to eliminate the bad dust issues I had with my Z51 and will have would with the the GS OEM pads! While the left rear wheel is off will install a CAGS eliminator. Will install the wheel locks I have as each wheel in mounted.
Told the receiving dealer not to bother to wash it as I will, then clay bar, apply Zaino Z-AIO, followed immediately with Z-2 polish and then apply Z-CS (Clear Seal.)
At 500 miles will change oil, filter and install the magnetic drain plugs I purchased. With the car up on jack stands I'll install FANG skid pad protectors and cone washers to protect the bottom of the splitter!
I'm tired already!
