The manual recommends not turning auto rev match on until the engine and oil temps are up to normal operating temps. That's a good practice.

Interesting. My 14 Owners Manual doesn't say anything about not activating it. It does say that ARM is disabled at temps of 32 or lower.

Sounds like you don't want to over rev on down shift when engine is cold. Bad for internals. Can still rev match, but you don't want to do that.

Doesn't matter for long but I've also been told no rev matching in the 500 mile break in period as can easily rev above 4000 RPMs.

The manual says ARM doesn't operate at engine coolant temps below 32º, which is very different than air temp. You'd almost never see that unless the car stays outside in very cold temps, and even then, only for a couple of minutes after start-up.

I went back and checked my '14 owner's manual, and I couldn't find an entry in the manual warning against not turning on ARM until the engine is at normal operating temp--my mistake.

However, the yellow and red temporary tach warning bands, which are only present during break-in, and after break-in, when the engine coolant is below 140º, can easily be exceeded when downshifting w/ ARM on. I know, I did it early early on.

Thus, I still think it's good practice to keep ARM off until the engine is at normal operating temp. That only takes about 5-7 miles after initial start.
