Default Halo around Tachometer

I have a 2017 Z51 M7 coupe. When shifting and approaching about 1000 rpm of the red line, I get a yellow halo around the tach. Anyone else notice this? Haven't seen this written about before and just noticed it for the first time today.

It's a shift light.... If you switch from sport to track mode it's represented by 4-5 dots above the tach instead of the halo you get in sport mode

I don't think so. When engine warms up it goes away?

You can also set the HUD to track (hockey stick) and the center display to sport, and you can observe the correlation between the dots on the HUD and the "halo."

Yep, it turns yellow and then red.

Same as the dots. The lower RPM limiters also does this when the car is cold. If you spool up to 4000 RPM it all turns yellow (that's usually when I see it)

Again, the cold engine symbology on the tach is entirely different than the subject of this thread, which is about warning lights intended to alert the driver to an approaching redline.

That's weird.. My GS doesn't get the yellow halo until the rpms climb north of around 3500-4000. Never seen it that low before, and never for any extended time.

Looks like his is a Z06 - maybe a heat issue?

The yellow halo shouldn't be showing up at 1500 rpms, that's for sure. There is no coolant temp shown, so another possibility is that the engine is stone cold. Strange, for sure.

Oil temp showing 200* so it's not a cold start.

It is because of the speed combined with the low tire pressure warning you have (note tire pressure warning in speedometer area).

On edit, this low tire pressure issue may have also disabled traction control if you didn't do so manually.

Below is the low miles (same as normally appears with cold engine) tach ring others talked about taken when my Z was under 500 miles.

Actually the tires are fine with pressure, aftermarket drag radials
I was told light was on from a hard pull thru second, I let off, then shifted to 6th,
The computer wanted 3 red gear, not 6
At 85 I did not want the lower gear, the computer was looking for it

Did this topic ever get resolved? My corvette C7 zo6 does the same and I can’t help but wonder why it shifts on red when it’s on auto mode. Can’t be good for the car?

how far down is your gas pedal pushed? the computer has an algorithm where it will map the shift based on how aggresively you are pressing the gas pedal. if you're all the way in then it thinks you're trying to race so it will shift at max.
