Actual exposed Carbon Fiber or Carbon flash paint (looks black with glitter flakes). Top pic is Exposed, Bottom is Flash. Paint is $1K cheaper

Perhaps of interest, both are made from carbon fiber. The $2995 package is painted the same color as the bottom of the rear bumper (and other parts.) The $3995 option has the carbon fiber carefully laid out to look pretty! Similar to the $1995 option for the visible carbon fiber roof.
I elected to get the carbon flash painted package versus carbon fiber. The carbon fiber on my 2014 got addictive! Hood Vent and real carbon fiber (expensive) cover for chrome grill bar in addition to the side skirts and splitter!
Some of the aftermarket side skirts are make from fiberglass or even plastic composite or the least expensive, plastic. Having lived with the LG Motorsports carbon fiber aftermarket side skirts (~$1800) on my Z51 for 3 1/2 years passengers will inadvertently brush against them. In fact in 3 1/2 years even I did a few times! Nice to know they are strong carbon fiber! Never any damage, looked new when sold.
