Default Long term or regular upgrade?

wondering how many buy a new Corvette and plan to keep it long term as opposed to others who upgrade on a regular basis. After watching here on the C7 forum, i also couldn't help but notice some keep their previous versions.

I bought my C6 new and kept it for nine years because I loved it...until I saw the C7 in person. Though I suppose anything can happy, it's tough to imagine ever getting rid of my Stingray. It has exceeded all of my expectations.

Unless the C8 blows me away, my 15 base vert is my final stop on the Corvette express.

Kept my 2008 6 years, have 2 years on my 2015 Vert will keep it until until something comes along that rings my bell. Perhaps it will be the C8, in any case I am sure there will be another toy soon enough.

Plan on keeping my 2015 until the C-8 arrives. At the end of my 3/36 I get a GM warranty to get me to when the C-8 arrives. I will always have a corvette in the garage.

I have no plans to turn mine in as of today. Who know what tomorrow may bring. Seven years ago I was let go by the firm I had been with for 12 years when they shipped my job to Ireland. At that time I had NO Corvette in my future. Then I was hired as a consultant with the largest income I had ever made. So five years ago I picked up a used, 2004 C5. I thought for sure that was the last Corvette I'd ever own but that was OK, at least I had a Corvette. The consulting gig lasted way longer than I expected. So a year ago I traded the 2004 for a C7. Although I'm retired now, I'll wait to see what tomorrow brings before stating this is the last one.

Well, my wife has her 79 she ordered new. We had a 99 which we traded for an 01 which we still have. And we also have a 15 Z06 which we got after selling our 12GS. Really need to get rid of one at some point. We'll see.

Had my '05 C6 Coupe 6 1/2 years, now my '14 C7 Coupe since 11/13. I see no reason to buy a new C7 yet but the GS is enticing. Cheaper to start doing some serious mods, starting with new wheels to replace my '14 C7 Base chrome. And that blue <<<<< is hard to give up.

I quit saying "this will be our last Corvette"........ as i've now said it 11 times before.

In reality, the last one, our Laguna Blue '16 Stingray truly was planned as the final Vette, but it ended up as the one to go back to Detroit on a buy back for the dreaded WARBLE issue.

Now that I'm retired, nearly 2 years, I can't keep swapping Vettes out on a whim.... It's a good thing I was able to swap out for minimal expense to get into a GS due to the buy back deal. Otherwise, I'd be really wanting to take the hit, as I'm a huge fan of the wide body style

Long-winded commentary but I gotta write it down...

I never ever expected to be in this position-- an owner of one Vette, much less two Vettes. To quote the snobbery of a Mercedes-Benz salesman I once met while doing non-automotive work on their sales floor--he was talking about a customer who'd brought in a vehicle for warranty work when he said,"he's one of the unwashed marginal players; he can barely afford a Benz and certainly not the routine factory maintenance. Otherwise, he's own who's under his Bz on the weekends."

That's me. I can't afford a Vette... at SocSec age, I wash all my own vehicles, I do all my own fluid changes, tire rotations, electrical additions, suspension work, anything that doesn't need more than sockets, screwdrivers, wrenches--you get the picture.

We had two (count'em- 2!!) Priuses in 2012. Almost at "retirement age", we were extremely concerned about gas costs/mileage and the politics of oil and bought the first one in 2005. Then retirement came; I'd driven countless c3 & c4 Corvettes in my previous career as an auto-painter and was never impressed--'under-powered and over-priced' was always my evaluation.

But then my wife was gonna retire and as a retirement 'gift' I traded the older Prius in for a used c5 z06 for her (that's another long story- I'd almost walked away Vettes again after driving a base c6); and while I was actually away buying the c5, she changed her mind and worked another 4 years. But that z06 converted us both; and as it approaches the end of its' warranty, I wanted her in another car that was as dependable with a warranty that I could drive that would handle like the c5 z06. And so here we are. Two Corvettes; no more "shiptboxes" as a friend called the Priuses. But I'm still a "marginal player"... there's no way we could afford the depreciation expenses involved with upgrading; I wish we could. Like that Benz salesman implied... we spent everything we had to get in these two Vettes. and I gotta do the maintenance work myself (even though I don't trust a wash jockey or a dealership mechanic unless I absolutely have to)... I'm just one of the unwashed marginal players. I'll never be able to upgrade...

The wifey and I each usually get a new car every 10 yrs.Only prob is we never trade. We buy new & keep the older ones.

After having 5 cars in the driveway,I sold my 02Z and 03 S2K and got the C7.The Z51 is my 12th Vette.

It's 1/2 personal and 1/2 business car.

I plan to keep for at least 5 yrs.

Corvette owner for 27 years.... have accumulated more than 600,000 miles in Corvettes - rapidly approaching 700,000 miles - I buy my cars to drive and enjoy.

I've traveled all over the United States (45 of the lower 48)..... and commonly take 1,500-mile plus trips....

The most miles I've put on a single car was 186,000 miles - it's living happily with it's second owner and now has more than 250,000 miles on it and looks great - the only "major" thing ever done with the car was a transmission replacement at around 200K.

My '15 C7 has more than 40,000 miles on it, but in fairness I split the DD duties with a 29-year-old 328 GTB Ferrari, putting about 10,000 miles a year on the F-car.

Buy'em, enjoy'em...

...to quote myself: "No one ever said on his death bed I wish I'd driven the Corvette less."

Just placed a order for GS March 30, Got green light for GS but 04 will have to go. Hope constraints on GS don't give me a problem . I'm planning on having GS for a long time hopefully.

I just purchased my '16 Vert new in October, it has been stored since November. It only has 306 miles on it and is not even broken in. With that said, this Corvette is my 35th since 1972 so.......I won't make any statements about long term ownership!

I was planning on keeping my 2014 Stingray Coupe, 2LT, 17k miles, another 4 years, but this morning in the grocery store parking lot a guy amd his wife offered me $52k for it. He said it was exactly what they have been looking for.

They paid cash on the spot and I gave them the keys.

When I wore a younger mans's cloths I had to keep the Corvette longer. Now that I have matured I figure you can't take it with you. So if it starts to itch, I'll scratch it quick.
