New Corvette paint shop to offer almost all GM colors that ever existed for MY 2019
An old college friend works for DuPont and was telling me that he has been tasked with creating a Master Listing of every exterior color that GM has offered since 1953. He was told that one of the capabilities of the new Paint Shop at the Bowling Green plant will allow computer controlled "mixng and matching" of pretty much any paint color and the auto-clean feature of the robotic painters will allow any color to be applied to any car on the line without any down time for clean-up. As it operates now, Bowling Green paints up to 24 vehicles the same color and then cleans the sprayers to shoot a different color for the next batch on the line. GM has decided to allow Corvette buyers to choose any color that was previously offered on any American GM vehicle going as far back as 1953. There will be a $595 [tentative] upcharge when customers order build code AF53.

LOL, had me going too. Porsche used to paint any non-standard color for a $5000 option--not sure if they still do.

Ummm... Many GM plants use "DuPont" paint still, the brand is known as Axalta now.
