Default New Corvette paint shop to offer almost all GM colors that ever existed for MY 2019

An old college friend works for DuPont and was telling me that he has been tasked with creating a Master Listing of every exterior color that GM has offered since 1953. He was told that one of the capabilities of the new Paint Shop at the Bowling Green plant will allow computer controlled "mixng and matching" of pretty much any paint color and the auto-clean feature of the robotic painters will allow any color to be applied to any car on the line without any down time for clean-up. As it operates now, Bowling Green paints up to 24 vehicles the same color and then cleans the sprayers to shoot a different color for the next batch on the line. GM has decided to allow Corvette buyers to choose any color that was previously offered on any American GM vehicle going as far back as 1953. There will be a $595 [tentative] upcharge when customers order build code AF53.

Default Today is April 1st ! ! ! !

Bryar blue from a '72 would look greatastic!

So would carbon flash (Black metalic), the one year color on Vettes from 2012.

I would like to see the C7 in Hugger Orange, like this 69 Camaro...

That's interesting, since GM has not used DuPont paint in years!

LOL, had me going too. Porsche used to paint any non-standard color for a $5000 option--not sure if they still do.

Caught me! (For about a minute I was trying to figure out how I'd be able to replace my current '15 with a new '18 in Supersonic Blue. )

Honestly, I'd rather have a car w/ a trouble free automatic than a choice of a full color palette.

Although a joke, I know that most plants, BG probably included, can paint any color in any order without downtime. Robots can color change pretty fast.

Ummm... Many GM plants use "DuPont" paint still, the brand is known as Axalta now.

Last week on a visit to Manhatten BMW we looked a some new factory painted non standard colors on several cars. I was informed that BMW would paint any color you want, for of course an up charge $$$

While this post was intended as an April fools joke it is interesting that Volkswagen offers the Golf in 40 different colors.

Check it out. You can pick out your fav color here
