Options, trim, and combinations
Just wondering if anyone is frustrated with option restrictions.
I've been trying to build a new GS, only to find out i can not have it my way.
Basically it comes down to....you can have that if you get this, or sorry you can't have that along with the other option !
No one i have talked to can provide the reason why a GS in white or Admiral blue comes with a matching rear spoiler (not the tips), but they will not do this with any other color even when i wanted to apply and pay for the G-30 color override.
Gueez, I only wanted the Heritage package which gave me the hash marks along with a Hood Stinger.
Sorry, you can't get a Hood Stinger, you can only have a full body stripe !
Or how about the color option which mandates grey vents.
I think some of this is absolutely ignorant !

It's the nature of the beast. All the manufacturers are the same these days, and it is quite frustrating.
You do have an option though. You can have the spoiler painted at a good body shop. And, you can also buy the stripes from one of our forum vendors and have them installed afterwards. Like you I would just like to order the car the way I want it, but alas we can't.

The era of free form options ended years ago. Manufacturers keep costs down by limiting the number of possible combinations. Much easier to control inventory costs that way.

Yes i can agree to the inventory cost idea for some options, but both of the trim i wanted are offered, GM will not combine the two....hash marks with a hood stinger.
I went the paint shop route, but after talking with 3, they all say they will only paint the spoiler off the car which means R&R the rear fascia.
Aside from the cost, it just wasn't what i wanted to do with my brand new Grand Sport.
Done my way GM could have gotten 3K dollars more from me.
I ordered the car with no trim, that should keep inventory cost down for GM !
I'll make it "my way" after i get it !!

The good news is that the Corvette aftermarket is robust with quality products and options. Order it as close to what you want and then let the aftermarket vendors help you with the rest. Some components look better than OEM! ***cough*** Carbon Flash painted wheel spats ***cough***
