interesting lots of lads taking off the haltech cai, never seen so many for sale, must be some kind of issues, but found nothing. a few for lt1 s and more for ZO6 s. anybody have an idea ?
Dropped one in my 2014 and now in my 2016...nothing but smile on my face and a grunt under the hood every time I put my foot in it ! Did 30k on my 14' have 12k on my 16'
More to do with the c7 has been out awhile now IMO - its one of the first mods we do.....and for people that mod - you always want more - and at a certain point you can't use it anymore - but i could be wrong - just a complete guess.

I have no doubt what a good CAI can do but $ 700.00 ! Come on, the price kills it.
Really? On the $/HP scale that's not bad. I bought one of the first out (in carbon fiber, cost more than that) and tested it. It made 40 more SAE RWHP than stock, no other changes. Worth it to me. And, NO, it didn't make the engine run too lean.

Here's my dyno sheet stock Vs Halltech as only mod:
Maybe you WERE born last night.
The gains are starting to be debunked if you go into the C7 Z06 section. The CAI makes the car pretty darn lean and when you do x pipe and a ported throttle body many people get codes on their dash, but several folks are starting to check the AFR and Lambda and realizing the CAI makes the car too lean for comfort, especially on 2017s.

It didn't make my 2015 go too lean for comfort. By the time you get into the meat of the power band COT kicks in and the car goes pig rich, not lean.
The intakes are definitely worth it... now 40rwhp without tuning is a bit steep from what we've actually seen, but still worth a good bump in power! Many going for sale from guys trading their cars and removing aftermarket parts, or going to a supercharger system that requires a different style intake system to be used.
I have had some form of a CAI on three Vettes (and my old '92 Miata); my response (no pun intended) is that HP gains are not only minimal but tend to be higher in the rev range. A friend had a before/after and found maybe 8 - 10 HP gains at over 5000 rpm BUT I have found the benefits are:
a. Makes a nice little sound up front and adds a slightly throatier sound
to the car.
b. In all cases (could be placebo, I admit) it seems to rev more freely
c. It looks cool
Granted, different brands (K&N and aFe) but I'm comfortable with my (in) take (sorry, another bad pun)......
Oh I don't know. I had a 2006 C6, LS2 and the only thing I had on it not stock was a Vararam CAI. My car consistently turned 12.2-12.4's all day long. My buddies with the same cars did the same after adding the CAI's. 40 hp? No way, but .2 to .4 seconds in the quarter mile...yes. IMHO the CAI's (I also had one in my C5) seem to pick up more at top end.so I assume the same would apply to the LT1's. Just saying.

This is the GD section so it would be helpful to qualify your gains as related to the LT1 or LT4. It's been well established that the CAIs make way more absolute HP on the LT4s than the LT1s. It can be confusing.
