Default C7 navigation question

After programming in your destination, is there a way to get an overview of the route the nav system has mapped out for you and change it, or are you just stuck with whatever route the system selected?

Really?

Even the much-maligned C6 factory nav will give you a choice of 3 routes at the push of a button, and after you select which route a couple more pushes will "drive" the route for you.

^^^ This is what I like, having 3 route choices. The C7 Nav doesn't do this?

Personally, I always use the phone app and send the destination to the car, its easier I think. You can then send additional destinations and when you do that it will ask you if you want to add it as a waypoint or not, so that's a way to correct the route to the way you want it to go.

If you touch on the next turn indicator (I think in the upper left?) it will show you a list of all the turns so you can browse through it.

There is an avoid button at the bottom if you pull the lower menu up that allows you to avoid roads if you'd like. And there is also an optimize and an Edit route button.

It's definitely a messy system I think, but once you figure out ways to use it I find it not so horrible which allows me to just stash my phone in the center console.

The navigation route works according to your route preferences that you set in the menu. You can scroll through the route but you have to change route preferences to get a different routing. I usually review the routings (iPhone/iPad) before using the car's navigation system and change route preferences to acquire the routing I want. Seldom do I just wing it.

Just touch the map on the route and move it to where you want! Add them as WayPoints....done

The C7 NAV does Not have 3 different routes to pick from .
You have to Zoom out to see the route it gives you.
If you don't like it, then, as mentioned, you need to change the route preferences and Zoom out again, to see the new route,.. and so on

GM Nav sucks. I use Android Auto with Google Maps

I just a letter from GM yesterday it said my 2016 Corvette is due for a map update and want 140.00. After spending 75,000.00 map updates should be free.

The factory navigation system is far more capable than many owners know. Anyone who goes to the NCM bash later this month should attend either session of "Using 7th Generation Navigation" presented by Paul Pearson. Paul is an expert on the subject. I've seen his presentation and will GUARANTEE that anyone who attends comes away with a much greater understanding and appreciation of the C7's system. You can catch it Thursday at 10:45 a.m. or Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

The presentation from last year was posted in the Corvette museum website. I took my laptop and did some of the suggestion or training hands on. Great way to learn. Its a good system and is very intuitive so it takes some effort but it does NOT suck as some have said

My 2010 Prius had the best NAV I've ever had, once you picked a destination, it zoomed out to show 3 different routes, you then pick a route, then it zooms in to get you started. Plus it also had a breadcrumb feature that shows where you've been. Can't believe the 2017 C7 doesn't have this capability.

I'm an IT guy with over 30 years in the industry. I've seen user interface design evolve from green screens to desktops to windows to web and mobile. There is absolutely no justification to have such a user hostile interface to the NAV (or other system) in this day and age. Car systems, in particular, should be made as intuitive and user friendly as possible. Anything else just adds to the whole "distracted driver" problems we're already seeing.

I've owned numerous vehicles with built-in NAV, and although some were better than others, every single one of them paled in comparison to the NAV apps available and free (other than my phone and plan) on my phones. GM's is one of the worst I've ever dealt with. Yea, the features may be in there, but I have no desire to wade through the mess of the interface, online tutorials, and manuals to access functionality that my phone beats hands down. It's just not worth my time.

I have to agree. It's not just GM, most auto manufacturers completely miss the mark when it comes to NAV.

I will say this though. Kudos to GM for at least giving us some real actual buttons for the infotainment unit. My Honda has none, everything is via touchscreen. I have gotten good at using the steering wheel controls but it is very distracting if you try and use the touch screen.

I'll chime in with it SUCKS... Yes, I've read the book. Yes, I've tried using it. But it SUCKS.

My Garmin is worlds better. Not to mention that it came with free LIFETIME map updates. I just got a letter from GM saying for the discounted price of $139.95 I can get the new map update... LOL right...

The voice recognition sucks. You have to use Voice command when moving. (my wife sometimes like to use it as a passenger, so no such luck)

And really with the CELL PHONE being ubiquitous now, the need for factory NAV is approaching zero... If you didn't get with with the PDR, I wouldn't have it at all...

Car manufacturers need to get out of the factory installed nav business. NONE of them are ANY good at it...
