Default Smartphone mirroring

I downloaded the android auto app and had my car updated.
But I want to mirror the phone to the infotainment system.

Is is possible and where do I find the instructions.
I did a forum and google look up with no luck.

Android auto and CarPlay allow you to run selected individual apps from your cars entertainment center. It does not mirror the phone screen.

Just looked up the NAVTOOL.
I was hoping it was just a app or download.

Android Auto (AA) does not do mirroring in the way you seem to be describing. It does display things to the main screen in your car but it only displays a limited set of apps. This is for safety reasons and when you think about it it makes sense. You don't really want to be streaming YouTube videos on the dash while you are driving do you?

AA allows you to use Google Maps (Waze coming) to the infotainment screen as well as play various media apps like Google Play Music, Pandora, BeyondPod, etc. It has a section for making and receiving phone calls. But it does not allow you to throw any old app on the big screen.
