Default Dumb ?? On closing your hood on your C7

So I was watching a delivery today from the museum and the guy was showing how to close the hood. I always drop the hood to the hinges and push down above the hinge to lock one side and walk around and push the other side down. I have done this to my 2 C3's and now my C7. The gentleman that was doing the delivery made the gesture to not close it like I do and walked around the front of the car and push down on the center of the hood just above the vent and push the hood down about half way and give it a final push to close. It took them 4 times to get the hood latched on both sides doing it that way. How does everyone close the their lid?

My delivery guy just dropped the hood from about a foot. I do the same thing. You will get the right height through trial and error.

Push mine down from the center with light pressure.

Latches properly & securely the first time.

I do it the same way you do, walk around and do each side. That's how I always did it on my 65 conv.

Drop it straight down from about a foot, 6" on my C1. Pushing down on the hood would leave fingerprints!

I push with my knuckles just above the vent in the center of the hood.

I slam the crap out of it as hard as I can! LOL

:smas h:

I close it to about a foot away, then press on the center top hard enough for both latches to catch.

Same here. I'm afraid of damaging the hood if I push down on either corner after the hood is partially latched.

Drop it the last 18" or so-never had a problem. Same way I do the C6. Even the C4 closes best using this method and that's a large heavy hood. My '59 I owned a few years ago was always a challenge and usually required a bit of 'encouragement' on one of the sides; once in a while the drop method would work, but not often.

I very gently lower the hood onto the latches then use a rubber mallet to pound it home. Works great.

Close it down to the last 18", then drop it and let it latch on it's own. Don't push on the corner to complete the latching if it doesn't close completely. That means you didn't let it drop the last 18". It'll be fine.

Lower hood to about 18 inches and with a gentle push let the hood fall on the latches. Locks in place every time.

I just pull forward while I look out the window, it usually closes itself at, or about 10 miles an hour.

You will break the plastic if you continue to close it like that.

Just because you did it that way for years does not automatically make the procedure the proper way to do it on the new cars.

Just sayin...
