I'm fairly cheap and was looking for something different. Commercial vinyl tiles, DIY project. Been down for 15 years. I rent a buffer about every 2 years, strip and seal it. Looks like the day I installed it.
I am planning to order either the Swisstrax or Racedeck tiles and have seen many nice comments and pictures of both. But I would like to see how they hold up long term. If anyone has had their floor down for a few years, I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance for your help.
I've had mine for a couple of years (race deck), I agree with the comment about not using white if I had it to do over again. But overall I like it. I used the free flow tiles under the tires so I could hose out the droppings.
I think I paid about $1100 shipped to do a two car garage with Race Deck three or four years ago. They offer various discounts, ie military, member of garage forum, etc. They have an excellent online design program where you can design your own pattern based on the size of your particular garage.

Going on year #2 with my Racedeck free flow and couldn't be happier. Still looks brand new, even with bringing my daily drive in/out fall of salt every day during our lovely Cleveland winter. Cleanup is super easy (leaf blower, pressure washer or shop vac - pick your poison). My car jack rolls on it just fine. Jacking and using Jack stands is no problem whatsoever. Would recommend this to anyone and would do it again in a heartbeat.
we
We have identical garages!!
I find my racedeck hard to keep clean. Previous garage had epoxy .. the floor cracked over time and made a mess of the epoxy coating. Hot tires also damaged the epoxy.
You can take the racedeck with you when you move also.
I had race deck tiles in my house, and I didn't care for them. Now, to be fair about it, I don't know how old they were, but at least 6 years old, probably closer to 10. The previous owner likely never cleaned them, and when I tried, they looked better but still had embedded dirt and stains. Also, dirt and water had gotten between the tiles and fallen to the concrete where that never got cleaned. After all those years, and very likely some rodents and maybe household pets in the garage, and the floor smelled.
Also, the tiles make noise when you walked on them and rocked slightly over the uneven sections of the garage.
I'm sure it looked fabulous when they first put it down, and I know it's not cheap to do. However, the ones in my garage looked bad and did I mention than they smelled a bit? So I pulled them all up and got rid of them, scrubbed the floor and lived with that for a few months until the wife let me have the floor professionally painted with epoxy.
The epoxy looks fabulous, is easier to clean and keep clean, cost less than tiles and doesn't make any noise when you walk or drive over them.
Is it possible it wasn't RaceDeck but rather a cheap knockoff? As far as price I was given a quote of $6 per sq ft for professionally applied epoxy compared to around $3 for RaceDeck (DIY). Epoxy can also get very slick when wet & not as soft to walk on. When epoxy eventually starts looking bad or the floor starts cracking, there is not much you can do.
Interesting discussion....I am trying to decide about floor covering also in a new 42 by 44 garage we are building (with a new house also). I am leaning toward Swiss Trax and also Race Deck...the open "free flow" type from both companies. I had a "rough quote" of $7.00/sf for a nice epoxy floor. The Swiss Trax I have noted a lowest calculated priced at an average of just over $4.00 per sf. Appreciate the experience info you all are sharing. It will be some months before I have to pull the trigger. Tks.

Yes, that is possible. However, the previous owner of the house spared no expense on cabinets (in the garage) and other upgrades, so in this case, I think it was. However, it was obviously neglected and years of dirt being ground into it took its toll.
As for my epoxy, the painter that did it also added a sand-like material to the top coat for traction. It really helps. Otherwise, yes, it's deadly slippery when wet.
